The giants havent covered 8 points since week 1 at dallas. They have been getting worse by the week. Their defense is atrocious and their offense might be worse. They only put up 21 against the Eagles at home. Chicagos defense is much better. They cant protect Eli and have absolutely NO running game and who knows what David Wilson's status will be. I just cant possibly see them competing with a good chicago team IN chigago on short rest. Peppers and that line will be all over Eli all game. I think the bears cover the 8. Anyone see a reason the giants cover?

How can ou possibly say the Bears defense is no better than the Giants?  Bears rank 8th in total defense, 4th against the rush and 16th against the pass; and thats after playing the Lions and the Saints, and they lead the league in take aways.  The Giants dont rank better than 19th in any of those categories.  Get a clue

Only 2 teams have less sacks than Chicago.....Giants and Pittsburgh.
IF...and yeah, that's a big "if" Manning can get time, he's got talent to work with.  Now their defense is another matter.

The Bears could EASILY be 1-4 right now having stolen wins from MN and Cincy.  I think you are giving the Bears a little too much credit for being a "good team."

I would not touch this game, but you were asking for potential reasons the Giants might be able to cover.

My opinion doesn't count for much these days, as I've been getting absolutely killed in football. But the Bears are a good team.

Last two weeks they have had tough losses to two good teams in the Lions and Saints. Chicago is a good home team and is very likely to win this game.

One thing they have excelled at is forcing turnovers on defense and turning those TOs into TDs. The Giants have turned the ball over a LOT. David Wilson is likely to be out so their already pathetic running game will likely be non-existent.

Not locking this one in yet, as I still need to look into the game more. Changing my whole approach to picking NFL games. BOL.

definitely a valid point. The difference here is that offensively NYG are last in rushing and 30th in passer rating. Bears are top 12 in both.

Bears give up just under 26 points/g at home one of those teams being the saints last week. Giants average 12 point/g on the road with about 90% of those points coming against the cowboys week 1. Theres just nothing that points to the giants hanging with the bears on the road.

Bears will score plenty of points. 34-17 bears is my prediction.

This has a lot less to do with the bears being a "good team," which i think most people would agree they are, than the giants being god awful. The bears could be 1-4 but theyre not. The giants are 0-5 and have been handled in EVERY game they have played. And "if manning has time"? Is that the game were playing? I was asking for legitemate reasons the giants could cover.. Manning hasnt had time all season, but all of a sudden on short rest they are gonna put the pieces together?

The Bears could EASILY be 1-4 right now having stolen wins from MN and Cincy.  I think you are giving the Bears a little too much credit for being a "good team."

I would not touch this game, but you were asking for potential reasons the Giants might be able to cover.

Last two weeks they have had tough losses to two good teams in the Lions and Saints. Chicago is a good home team and is very likely to win this game.

One thing they have excelled at is forcing turnovers on defense and turning those TOs into TDs. The Giants have turned the ball over a LOT. David Wilson is likely to be out so their already pathetic running game will likely be non-existent.

Not locking this one in yet, as I still need to look into the game more. Changing my whole approach to picking NFL games. BOL.

Bears defense is better, but not that much better.   Bears rank #24 in passing yds.allowed/game, and tied for #26 in points allowed/game  (28 ppg)

Not liking either side in this one.   I do like the OVER, as others have mentioned

And WTF is this, "is that the game we are playing B.S.?"  There are a quite a few players on the Giants team with rings.  Yeah, they have played like a bunch of turds....but there is talent there.  Go ahead and lay your 8 along with everyone else.  No sweat off my back.

You asked for opinions, but you've obviously made up your mind.  So just go bet it and stop wasting everyone's time.

The difference here is that offensively NYG are last in rushing and 30th in passer rating. Bears are top 12 in both.

yea i wanted legit reasons they could cover. not a magical scenario. IF cutler has time then they roll. I want stats or things people have seen this season that would lead them to believe the giants would cover. Ive had a few on this thread so far but nothing from you. SUPERBOWL RINGS????? stop.. this team wont even come close to making the playoffs so what do superbowl wins have anything to do with thursday night???

Flacco threw 5 pics against the bills. Brady scored one TD against the jets and ZERO against the bengals last week. So im surprised brady is even that high.

I give u stats, u give me hypothetical situations... wow

    Chi D:

    yards per game: 20
    yards per play: 25
    3rd down efficiency: 20
    scoring: 27
yards per pass attempt allowed: 29

These numbers were the same thru week 3, when it was vs Cin, Min, and Pit, not juggernaut offenses.  The Giants D is no good either..

But the reason to take the Giants, in my opinion, is that they go thru periods like this every season.  They were 10-6 and 9-7 during their superbowl runs.  They go thru periods where "they suck" and "how could you take them"..

They've actually played well thru 3 quarters in their last two games, then have fallen apart in the 4th.  The bears D is so far suspect thru the air.  What's the only thing the Giants can do so far?  Eli, Cruz, Nicks, Randle.  These guys are what makes (+7.5) a good bet.  Would it really be a shock if the Giants won this game?  I don't think so..

ummm the saints did not pass all day, they had a really good run game
The bears shut them down for 3 quarters, and two turnovers held them to 2 field goals

Saints had 66 yards rushing.  2.4 per attempt.  not "really good."

35 passing attempts is enough for me, though perhaps it doesn't qualify for "all day."

One game doesn't mean that much to me, anyway.  esp the last game.

But season long numbers don't lie (post 17).  All I'm saying is, the Bears pass D so far isn't good.  Eli, a two time SB winner, looking to get out of a slump, on the big stage, with the trio of receivers he's got, vs a pass D with those numbers, and getting over a TD.. looks like a nice recipe..

Tough to back the Giants..I'm not saying take the bears but I think the Giants have lost by an average of 20 points this season so far...Eli will have to throw throw throw in Order for them to get points with the running game being poor..

You are right, anything can happen...I just still do not thing the Bears Defense is as bad as it has been playing. I Eli is good but he has not been playing good this year....I just can not see the bears losing to a team with no running game....Pitt was kind of the same situation. Eli will have to put on a wicked show....its the NFL it can happen but there is no way in hell I back the Giants in this game

The Bears defense has been struggling but have any of you actually looked at the stats from Saints game?  The Saints did not throw up any monster numbers. They did not get many rushing yards and held Sproles in check. Cutler had almost the same stats as Brees as well.

If you look at the actual stats from the game it looks nothing like what I watched on TV. Let's use facts and not opinions here everyone. If everything went by our opinions then he Jets and Raiders would have lost easily.
