All weekend, we've seen teams that suk and can't buy a win. All of a sudden they come out and beat a playoff team on the road like it was meant to be. Why can't they play like this more often? They don't want to play like this all the time? Only sometimes? Where was this Giants team all season? Whey couldn't they play like this when they still had a chance to make the playoffs?

Atlanta coming off a bye up 17 at halftime blowing the game to jay cutler Aaron Rodgers getting hurt (just bad luck) vs case keenum..winless giants with no weapons beating Denver.....Arizona destroying tb. And many others. I give up. Sometimes I feel these players are throwing the game but can't be right?

Last week, I read that "winless road underdogs vs non-divisional opponents were 50-18 ATS since 1980".
Yesterday, this applied to 3 teams (CLE, SF and NYG). 2 of 3 covered. Since '80, I'm sure a fair number of the 50 also won SU. So the situation was not new and this stat shows there's an advantage to siding with winless team (with a pointspread).
If games were decided on previous stats and performance alone, their would be no 'gambling' on a winner at all, we would all know the outcomes beforehand. The Giants were desperate to avoid embarassment on national TV and motivated to show they were not as bad as everyone was labeling them...a prime time audience was the perfect place to do it. The Broncos likely let their guard down expecting an easy week as 13 pt favorites over a washed up 0-5 team. Sometimes the motivation of one team, and lack of same on the other team, overshadow the talent portion of the equation, and wreak havoc with our handicapping by the numbers. Much easier to declare it a 'fix' than admit to our inability to convert the precise impact of emotional factors onto the score of a game.
