Let me rephrase that, with Farve at the Helm, they will go 5-11. If Jackson, Rosenfels or even Booty get some time, things will have a different outcome.
Yeah bud, I like the Vikings because of Brett Favre. How did you know?
If not for Favre then why would you call the Vikings a Super Bowl calibur team. They werent before Favre and there still not with him. There not even a playoff team in the NFC and finish 2nd or 3rd in there division. Im not saying you like the Vikes cause of Favre but if not please explain to us all why you think the Vikings are a "Super Bowl calibur team".

Get your facts straight friend. He did have surgery this offseason.

Okay, since Childress has taken over, he has slowly built himself a nice team. Each of the last three years, the team has picked up two games. Last year, they were 10-6, and ran into a buzzsaw in the playoffs. They also were saddled down with a young inexperienced QB that the fans and media loved to smash.
This year I honestly thought Rosenfels was gonna win the job. People can laugh at him all they want, but he is a solid player and honestly I think he is better than AT LEAST 15 of the bozos starting in the NFL the last few years. He gets a lot of flack for a couple of games he really fucked up in last year, but it doesn't change the fact(in my mind at least), that he is a good QB, a gigantic upgrade to Jackson, and the final piece in truly making them a Super Bowl contender.
Do I even have to talk about Adrian Peterson? Kid is a beast and the few weaknesses he has are washed out by Chester Taylor's blocking and receiving. Their receiving corps were never the strongest, but that may be different this year. Berrian came last year off of free agency and I think he led the NFL in yards per catch. The kid from South Carolina seems to be finally healthy and ready to step in as a legit number 2. Bobby Wade is a nice number 3 guy. Percy Harvin is a playmaker in the Devin Hester mode. He can make noise as a slot guy, a kick/punt returner, and maybe even a Wildcat wrinkle.
The o-line is solid, but possibly a bit overrated. Hutch and McKinnie are solid, but they lost arguably the most important piece of the puzzle in their center, and there doesn't seem to be a suitable replacement at the moment. They drafted a monster out of Oklahoma(can't remember his name) to sure up the right side, and how fast he picks things up will determine if this line is great or just good.
The d-coordinator(Lesley Frazier) I think is one of the most underrated coaches out there. I know he can probably attribute the Williams for his insane success at stopping the run, but regardless, to lead the NFL three striahgt years in run D is insane. Complimenting them on the line is Jared Allen on the end and we all know what he has done since leaving the Chiefs and signing a big contract with the Vikes.
Linebackers they have should be okay. They aren't very deep there and they don't have the big name guys like some other teams, but Greenway stepped up last year and played well, and he think he will compliment things perfectly. Leber is a decent vet. Most importantly, EJ Henderson returns after missing most of 2008. He is the heart and soul of the middle, and make everyone better around him.
Their secondary is fairly solid. Winfield is not quite a Champ Bailey when people throw around the "shut down corner" comment, but he is pretty close. Him and Cedric Griffin are more than able to sure up the corners. They also do a good job tackling unlike a lot of the Marys playing CB in the league. Tyrell Johnson should be replacing Darren Sharper and he got a lot of experience filling in for Madieu Williams who is back after missing half of last year.
Longwell can kick; Kluwe can punt. They have Glenn Holt in returning duties possibly sharing with Harvin.
Their schedule is fairly weak too compared to a lot of other teams. They start the season on the road against Cleveland and Detroit. They go home to SF and GB before going back on the road to St Louis. So while they are working out the kinks, they ARGUABLY have three of the worst teams in the league, and two middle of the pack teams. Two of their toughest games they are lucky to get at home(Ravens-Giants). After probably their toughest stretch, they get a BYE, and off the bye they have three straight home games against Detroit, Seattle, and Chicago.
So put that all together, that is why I think this team is possibly SB material. I don't like they joined the circus and got Brett Favre. I don't like the bickering the media is reporting. I don't like that Rosenfels is gonna wind up getting the shaft. I don't like the fact that if I'm gonna be betting the Vikes, I have to deal with hiked up lines for the do-do birds and their Brett Favre bullshit. At the same time, getting Favre isn't really a reason to go "Hee-hee hardee har, I'm really sharp and I'm just go against the grain and I'm gonna blindly bet against the Vikes EVERY week and I'll be rich" mentality and that's why I made my original sarcastic comment. I don't give a shit that the Vikes lost a home game(big fucking deal), and I don't give a shit that the Vikes were 5-12 against the spread last year(that was last year).
One other thing I forgot to mention. Anyone remember when the William's boys got busted last year for roids or supplements, but were allowed to play in the playoffs? Is there any chance those guys will be suspended? That can definitely hurt them and will add to the media circus that is buzzing.
