So when a ref calls a penalty, they throw one of the two flags so all of us peasants at home sweating our five dollar wagers know immediately if the play is going to stand or not.
How can we get this done?

This is a good reason also. Makes them accountable if they change their minds.

Now we're talking!!!
Imagine in the screen, instead of always seeing yellow for the penalty indicator on the scoreboard it is either home or away, and you know before the play is over? This might add years to my life span

We will only see it on the scoreboard. Not really on the field. We don't see the actual flag most of the time now, we just see the graphics on the scoreboard at the bottom of the screen. With this, they could put the flag indicator next to the team it is on!

Lets kick it up a notch.
Depending on the play, and how important the decision is at the time let's use 3 colored flags.
1. Pink = 500.00
2. Black = 5000.00
3. Green = 10,000
So all you guys who say it's rigged and staged, you will now know just how much the referee will make on the call, along with how important it was to the outcome of the game based on the amount.
And of course, the amounts skyrocket with playoff games and then the Superbowl.
Your welcome.

I enjoy the idea of it.... the execution of it is where i wonder how it will go. They couldn't get the challenge flag right for years and even still sometimes it feels like a work in progress.
Also didnt mean to bold but now it looks like i am important

You must have been sent by the NFL to detail my idea with distractions. I see you cooler, or should I say ROGER GOODELL!

I agree. The execution needs some refinement. I'm open to ideas. But you get the principle.

What color flag for when they throw a flag but then change their mind and decide there’s no penalty? Can they have a special flag for offensive offsides so that Mahomes doesn’t get so disappointed when the touchdown gets wiped off the board?

I'm against it. Why?
Well a part of the game is the suspense. Even the announcers can get it wrong too plus after the call, the whole stadium erupts in loud cheers.
All part of the game. Zebras only have one brain. Don't make it more difficult for them.

OK I got it. The offensive offsides flag will have little Kadarius Toney heads on it. When a receiver looks to the ref to check with him if they are offsides, the refs will waive the Kadarius Toney flag at them as a warning. Then everyone will be happy except for Kadarius Toney, of course.

You get a pink flag for that lame attempt at humor.

Let's kick it up a notch.
No refs on the field will be allowed to call penalties.
They're just there to keep things moving, wind the clock, make sure all the little things that they all ready do to keep order, get done.
The real penalty callers wouldn't be on the field. "Upstairs" perhaps. They would use all 22 technology. Multiple cameras. Theoretically you could have a camera ref for every player on the field.
When something illegal is done, dude pushes a button. Sub buttons would signify what kind of penalty it is, and how many yards.
You can't tell me that, that kind of technology couldn't be administered.
Now excuse me while I watch re runs of the Jetsons instead of tonight's game.
