He blew the whistle once the Lons recovered the ball and was down.  Plain and simple people. Aints choking in the 1st half..lol

Lions were in possession therefore have the option of taking the play when the whistle blew or replay the down.

The whistle was blown at least 2 seconds before Det possessed the ball.  I guess it just is that players have to play beyond the whistle if the ball is not in someone's hands.  Whislte means shit.
