I believe that at the moment Flacco does not deserve to be paid like a top 5 qb yet. I think for what he is really worth is no more than $15 million per season until he truly proves that he is worthy. Although Flacco does have a canon for an arm, he can not at the moment carry a team by himself. Only Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers and do that. Every other qbs in the NFL really needs a strong defense to really make the qb look good. The ravens defense are just simply making flacco look good. The ravens defense creates turnovers and sets Flacco for easy drives. The defense also gives Flacco more flexibility on offense to take more risk because Flacco knows his defense can save him. Put it this way if Flacco was playing for the Jaguars, do you think he will have the same success as he is with ravens? No he will not.
Overall, when the smokes clear, Flacco will be paid like a top 5 qb. Why? There are lots of reasons. He now has more leverage then ever. A couple months ago this is the same Flacco that couldn't perform at all after a hot 2012 start. Flacco's play started to cool off and there were a report that the players on the ravens had confronted Harbaugh about the new offense( saying that there not using enough of rice). Also leading to the firing of there offensive coordinator. Hey maybe thats what Flacco needs, a new coordinator. But remember this. This is the first time Caldwell ever called plays in his coaching career. Maybe that actually helped their super bowl run because no one knows how caldwell styles of playcalling would be yet. Im sure as next season come other teams will pick it up and be able to stop it more. We will see next season.
