Mr. Hand:
Mr. Spicoli, why are you continually late for this class? Why are you continually wasting my time and the classes with this tirade every day?
Jeff Spicoli:
Uh, uh... I don't know.

LOL, more guys coming in here defending the NFL is not fixed than the guys who complaint fix!
Any straight guy want to make a wager with me for next week NFL Sunday. We pick 3 games. If I lose, I will stop talking about about fixed. If you lose, you should not defending the game being fixed.
Ed or the1toturn2? I would take one of you guy.

but the answer to the question "how is this possible?" isnt "i dont know"...surely its "well its sporting contests between 2 teams and on any given day the lesser team can win by playing above themselves and being more motivated" or something to that effect.is it really considered a fuggin mystery why inferior teams beat better teams on ocassion?..i mean you only have to play or watch sports for a short while to conclude that this is completely feasible and reasonable...now to see a slew of them all clustered in a short timespan may shock us naturally as human beings.but thats just our confirmation bias and poor understanding of statistical probability kicking in.on a long enough timeline this will of course happen.we have had tonnes of faves covering for many weeks so its only a matter of time.

an analysis of probability of underdogs winning pre-game vs post-game confirms that by the end of the season, the underdogs will have won exactly how much they were probable to win. How is this possible? Because each game adjusts the handicap to reflect the likelihood of a team winning the game. Over the course of hundreds of games, the handicaps are very accurate. In a single game, however, the margin of error is very large. I.E. a +7 game in football rarely is won by 7 points. The majority of the time, the dog keeps it closer or the favorite blows it up.
It seems like rigging because 7 points can be impacted by one play. 7 points is 13% of the scoring in a typical NFL game. So a ref takes back a touchdown on 3rd down, he is single-handedly effecting around 10% of the game.

There's no evidence the NFL is scripted / staged. If you think there is you simply don't know what "evidence" is.
Present your evidence and let's have a discussion.

The REASON why the NFL is such a big business is BECAUSE it's not staged or scripted. THAT's what makes it exciting. THAT'S what makes it popular.
Furthermore, you simply can't fix it or stage it on the level that people here usually suggest... with thousands of players and coaches and NFL employees in on it... all while keeping it a secret. Not possible.
If you think the game is staged, present your evidence for peer review.

Yes, almost all games are fixed. There are different degrees of fixing in different games. You need to be careful with Sunday night games because a lot of people use the obvious home favorites in their teasers and ML parlays. After half-way point in NFL season better team on paper doesn't always win. If you want to continue wager your hard earned money on these fixed games, you need to figure out a way to win money despite the fixes. If you figure that out, continue to wager on these games. Otherwise, just quit and do something else.

The nfl defined itself as an entertainment company not a sport so the games aren’t fixed they’re produced for entertainment is all. We just don’t enjoy them when they decided a different outcome then we predicted.

Obviously they are fixed - I mean an NFL coach can't get away with saying person in an email from 10 years ago. But the whole league is in on the big fix in cooperation with the bookies. I mean who couldn't figure that out.

LoL Covers replaced F***** in my post with the word person. I am kinda glad they did, because I don't use that kind of language, just was making a point.
