Will the Saints' players take this game @ Tenny to be an all hands onboard, must win kind of game for them? N. O. has already won their division but now they are in competition with Green Bay, Seattle, and SF for a first round bye.
If the Jets can upset Pitts tomorrow then this game would be of greater importance to Tenny? A conference loss by the Steelers would put the Titans in the lead for the 6th seed heading to the last game of the year @ Houston who will probably rest their starters?
In other words, Tenny is fighting for their playoff lives are they not??? Whereas N. O. is only fighting for positional comfort. Doesn't that make a difference from a motivational angle?

New orleans wants to keep the momentum and take advantage of Home field through out the playoffs. Saints cowboys and green bay with the spreads follow me to the bank
I will be watching your plays and your confidence because for some strange reason I am opposite of everyone of your plays.
Maybe you should start your own thread of winners as well.

I think the Titans might surprise here lancer.... I really do and yes highly motivated and at home makes it a valid play to say the least.
Right, I am thinking that Tenny wins this game straight up after their disappointing game against Houston last week...and that they pin their hopes for the playoffs that the Greg Williams' D can put Darnold into a position for the upset win against the Steelers.
Pitts' offensive coordinator broke what had been working...low production though it was, it had a heartbeat...now, I am not so sure. He buggered the running back rotation which had been working. Jesus, what a beauty that hillbilly is...he uses terms like 'dadgummit'. Most Pittsburghers want to throw him out of a plane over a Southern state without any parachute on.

Saints are playing for the 1 seed and homefield. They will come to play.
True enough, but Tenny is playing for their playoff lives.
Basically they both have a high level of motivation. This game can't be handicapped based on motivation. Saints have something they need to accomplish and Titans as well. It legit boils down to whether or not you believe Titans defense will rough up saints and make it tough on Brees. If you do, then you may be on Titans. Thing about saints though is.. they're used to the dog fights and more often then not will take a win by three in an ugly win. BUT Tenn does have the homfield advantage on grass

I will note this.. not that teams think this way.. BUT Titans could lose this game and pitt lose then next week would still be the same scenario.. they win and pitt lose then they in whereas with saints what you see is what you get. It's either finish strong to ensure homefield or get caught up and miss it.

Both teams have motivation to win, so IMO that should be dropped from your handicap here. No matter the consequences of losing for either team, they're both gonna go all out here.
Personally I like the over, with a lean to the Tits, but not because they need it more.
The motivation angle is really only worthwhile if there are no stakes at all for one of the teams. For example, if the Ravens win tomorrow, their playoff seeding will be locked no matter what happens in their week 17 game with the Steelers. That is a motivation angle that can be useful (even though the rivalry makes every Bal/Pit game important).

Furthermore, if the Ravens win tomorrow, both the Titans and Steelers will need to win next week to make the playoffs, and will be facing teams (Texans, Ravens) whose playoff seedings are set in stone. Houston is already locked into the 4 seed in the AFC, and with a win Baltimore will be locked into the 1 seed.
In this scenario (Ravens beat Browns, which is obviously likely) I will be betting the first lines I see in those games (Pitt over Bal and Tenn over Hou). This is perhaps the one and only time that we as bettors can steal money. These lines could move a full TD by kickoff, and will almost certainly move by more than a field goal.
This is especially true for the Texans, who won't have a bye week to rest up before playing their first playoff game wild card weekend. The Ravens will have a bye, and combined with their hatred of the Steelers are more likely to try to knock them out of the playoffs than the Texans will be against the Titans.
Hope this helps some of you/us...

Good thread. Every post pretty much deems the motivational angle equal to both sides. Post #11 is right on.
How are the matchups and injuries?
A few mentioned those, is no one worried that Henry is questionable with a sore hammy? If he don't go(or hurts it in game) his backup Dion Lewis hasn't done much in between the tackles all year. And I believe he's banged up as well.
Another angle, if you believe in regression, Drew Brees was 29/30 passing last game. That's ridiculous, the man was possessed. The defense also played above and beyond after being embarrassed by the Niners.

Sorry, I made a mistake in post 12 -- the Texans can move up to the 3 seed if they win next week and KC loses either of their final 2 games (SNF at Chicago, week 17 hosting the Chargers).
Somehow the Chiefs have tiebreakers over the Ravens and Patriots, but lose the tiebreaker to the Texans. Houston has no shot at a bye, though.

If Pitts loses to the Jets, then that adversely affects their conference tiebreaker with Tenny...if they both lose today and both win next week, Tenny advances at 9-7...Pitts is knocked out at 9-7 cause of the loss to the Jets which buggers their conference record.

Right. Why would anyone not think this game is not important to the Saints? They are very unlikely to get the number one seed but have a very real chance to get a bye should Green Bay falter in one of their next two games.

Titans can lose this game against Da Saints, if Steelers also losing to jets this week;then Next week its very crucial situation for Both Steelers and Titans.
They both will face TOP SEEDS....Titans has to beat Texans , also Steelers have to lose to Ravens. in order Titans will make playoff.
Chance 50/50

If Pitts and Tenny are both 9-7, Tenny will get the 6th seed...try the NFL predictor on 538 website. With a loss to any AFC team, Pittsburgh loses its tiebreaker.

Brees will have regression but derrick henry is out, hammy
Why would Brees regress? Because of the record? Last year when he broke Manning's passing yards record, the Saints went on the road and beat Baltimore as an underdog.
