Record: A game or two under .500. I didn't go back to check. Leaving at the Super Bowl anyway.
Janet Yellen and Alan Greenspan...
Who are they? Chairs of the Federal Reserve...
What do they have to do with this thread? They both have something in common with Doug Marrone.
What is that? Their mere blurbs during a speech on the state of the economy can cause interest rates to rise or fall, shifting hundreds of billions of dollars in money through the market and bond purchases or sales.
If they even HINTED at interest rates rising? The markets will plummet, possibily for several days. Higher interest rates means it's more costly to borrow money and therefore, there is less investment, hence a sell-off.
If they hinted as rates falling? The market would skyrocket. It's cheaper to borrow and companies invest in themselves and expand.
You, as an investor, always wanted to be ahead of their statements so moles would actually leak a sentence or two in their speeches to tip a hand to insiders.
"Ok, get to your point!" Ok I will.
Doug Marrone, coach of the Jags, was our Janet Yellen and Alan Greenspan of the week.
The Titans line opened at -5 on the condition that the Jags had 'nothing' to play for having locked up the 3 seed. It got as high as -6 on 5 Dimes. -6!
Then Doug Marrone offered his "Interest Rates rising/falling" blurb of the week: "We're all in on beating the Titans."
And on those SIX words ALONE, the line has plummeted to FOUR AND HALF points to -1.5 where it sits at now. We didn't have to have a mole in the Jags locker room for those words. Because we don't want the Jags +6. We wanted those words to come out to take the Titans -1.5. And they came out in full force and the betting market went crazy!

Now I know you are afraid to bet the Titans. I know you have seen them struggle MIGHTILY at times to put up a solid game against the Niners, Cardinals and Rams. I know you have seen Mariota throw interceptions galore at the worst possible time. I know Demarco is out. I know you don't respect Mularky's head coaching.
But think about this, with ALL that KNOWN, the line got to -6.
And SIX simple words changed all that. SIX! A whopping 4 and half point line move.
Well let me say this, the value is on the Titans folks. MASSIVE VALUE.
Remember when Elliot on Dallas got suspended. There was debate whether he was worth ONE POINT on the Cowboys line. ONE POINT! Well guess what? He was worth everything. The Cowboys season went down the shi**er with his suspension as they lost 3 straight. Season over. Now all that production, all that protection for Prescott, all that actual output on the field was again, debated to be worth a POINT.
And WORDS are worth 4.5! WORDS! Words that MUST come to fruition to get full line value if you take the Jags (and that is not guaranteed as a lead for the Titans can definitely lead to a calling off the dogs moment for the Jags).
The conculsion: Doug Marrone's words are worth 4.5! THROUGH a key line of 6, 4, and even 3? Because he says we are "ALL IN", we casually hand the books 4.5 points to take the Jags?
I say HELL NO!
This is what you have going for you if you take the Titans very simply:
1) You are home in a do or die game.
2) You have lost 3 in a row coming in and can end your season losing 4 in a row to a team who is locked into their playoff position: An inexcuable losing streak to end the year if it comes to fruition. (I love taking teams on losing streaks as the value is tremendous and we get all the value here).
3) Heads will ROLL, first and foremost Mularky's if the Titans lose this game. He HAS to go. Three years with Marcus and nothing to show for it. So you get the coach on the "hot seat" angle with a seat that is lava burning hot.
4) It will be 15 to 20 degrees during kick-off and dropping. Cold weather games (particularly ones with these mercury blasting through the glass of a thermometer temps) lead to injuries (and players balling up in a cacoon sometimes). Titans have no time to shiver and shake and worry about injuries. The Jags have a playoff game next week. If Marrone sees guys going down, he SHOULD wisely pull some men off the field. A depleted Jags core leads to a Titan advantage.
5) Titans will throw the kitchen sink at the Jags. Everything will be on the table offensively and defensively for Lebeau.
6) The WORST thing that can happen to the Jags is to get a rematch AT HOME against the Titans next week with their entire playbook on display in this game. That's not a bad deal! Jags are still alive no matter what after this game. Titans go home. Even saying ALL IN doesn't mean more than the Titans ALL IN moment for themselves.
It's all here. I know they burned you. I know you don't have Demarco. I know they have shot their load 3 times in three weeks. But it's time to take the Titans and the Greenspan blurbs giving us a whopping 4.5 points of line value. Good luck!

If the Titans do not win this game, it will teach me a valuable lesson common sense and motivation does not matter in the NFL.
Titans are at home and stadium will be rocking for a team that has not been to the Playoffs for almost 10 years (2008).
Titans must WIN to get in and only laying less than a FG against a Team that has nothing to gain and many people feel the Jags would much rather face Tenn again next week vs. a Baltimore Ravens Team that might have a BETTER Defense and better and more Playoff experienced QB.
Also, the Titans should have some confidence against the Jags since they already beat them this year in Jacksonville.
I think this will be the most unruly crowd and first
Playoff type game for Blake Bortles on the road and that is a very tough
spot. I think this game will be decided on TO’s by Jacksonville and
Bortles.
Great write up Scal and I am definitely on board.

That was great info old wise one: So do you take Jags+3 or Tenn-3...

Maybe the line was too high to begin with because oddsmaker assume Jags would rest starters with nothing to play for. Line value is overrated. Although, as a Jags fan I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost to Tennessee three times this season.

Wow they let him out of the Pbox...LOL.....But I see even though he LOST a capping contest where the loser agreed to leave covers forever...he's back.
BTW...His pick may be correct, I just like a couple others today.....Wash -4 and Over Vikes/Chi 38.5
