alk about cutting straight to the punch line. It took Jimmy Kimmel
just one night to do what Dennis Miller needed two years to accomplish
— getting the heave-ho from "Monday Night Football."
ESPN will no longer allow Kimmel any guest appearances on MNF after the
ABC late-night host made several jokes about recently-fired analyst Joe
Theismann, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Kimmel,
who joined Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski in the booth
during the third quarter of the Giants' 31-10 win over the Falcons,
joked about where Theismann was, insinuated that Kornheiser got
Theismann fired (their on-air chemistry was often a topic of debate
last season), and later remarked, "I'd also like to welcome Joe
Theismann, watching from his living room with steam coming from his
ears."
Kimmel's comments were "classless and disappointing," said Jay Rothman, ESPN's MNF producer, according to the Times. "It was cheap. The more he went on, the worse he got."
Reached by the Times, Theismann said he was more amused than annoyed by Kimmel's comments.
"I
don't have an opinion about what people say, but it's nice to know
you're missed," Theismann said. "It's interesting that people remember
me."

i just saw this. pretty funny. i loved joe, my mom got me an autograph from him when i was a kid. said he was class act. i didn't hear the comments because i was flipping back and forth from the baseball game, but Kimmel sounded pretty drunk and I bet he likes Joe. I think Tony's an ass that never played sports in his life. always questioning everything like a child....what if this, what if that. I do not like Tony, do like Jaws and Tirico's too damn smart to be announcing a game, he should be running shit.

Why have these jag-offs in the booth anyway? I hate the way they try to appeal to the "casual" fan and IGNORE THE FRIGGIN' GAME ON THE FIELD.
Case in point, last year during the Rams-Bears MNF finale, Stephen Jackson left the game early in the second half. No injury news, no updates, no shots of him on the bench. Finally he re-enters in the fourth and we are told that he'd been dinged up. Same thing again this past Monday with Brandon Jacobs.
Needless to say my Fantasy champsionship was going back and forth on every play in that game.

If I wanted to see an attempt at being funny, I'd watch stand up on comedy central. Monday night football is a circus, 4 dinks in the booth, SUZY COLBER, and that other dizzy broad. It's tough to watch.
