Which makes the Bills' flight back to Buffalo the next day all the more puzzling. If his Bills' teammates were so concerned about his well being, then why wouldn't they hold round the clock vigils at the hospital for him until danger had passed?
Also, why fly back to Buffalo if you are uncertain about whether or not the league office will reschedule the game later in the week? (You state it was never going to continue/how would you know that then/nobody knew that including you?) Unless they figured they had the NFL over a barrel and knew it would be a bad optic if the Comish made the game go on.
What the Bills also knew was that they were getting their a$$es spanked on the field and with the injury to Hamlin, that made the second DB to go down in the game. Granted it was in the first quarter with 5 minutes left but the score was 7-3, but the Bengals were driving rather easily downfield threatening to add to their total, exposing that soft zone that the Bills play. Like other passing teams (Minnesota, Detroit, and Miami all passing teams) had done before them. However unlike those teams, Cincy has a good D.
Josh Allen also hyper-extended his knee so that would have impacted his ability to scramble (a big part of the Bills' offense).
Cincy head coach and players were accommodating to the Bills on Monday night but not so the owner of the Bills' team on Friday, when it came time to vote on these new rules which impacted the Bengals in a negative way. Had the Bills lost to the Bengals, they could have lost not only their 1 seed but also the 2 seed to the Bengals. Had that happened, it would have saved the Bengals from a trip to the NFL's Siberia in January, add in strong winds and the Bengals air attack would have been grounded and will be now with the new rules. The 2 and 3 seeds play each other so the likelihood of this happening is almost certain.
Yeah, the Bengals got the 3 seed but not even home-field is guaranteed. If it was guaranteed then the Bengals could rest players or would have the option to, but even that was taken away from them. By a win today, they would get home-field but of course what they lost was the chance to get the #2 seed which they coveted.
If this happens again to the Bengals, I would not be expecting them ever to agree to show solidarity as the Comish used it for his own devious reasons and was not concerned about treating Cincy fairly. The Bills' owner had no interest in being fair to the Bengals either. With the NFL being run by clowns, we can expect clownish things, and yes I was expecting it.
