Lots of good info on here on the injury front. Enquiring minds want to know. Hoping for more as the week goes along.
@Duderonomy
Thx for the story - interesting. I guess it can all depend (obviously). And I'm not one to jump on the "THEY'RE GONNA STEP UP FOR THE INJURED PLAYER".
I faded the shit outta the Bills last week w/ all that Hamlen madness. It just doesn't work that way - BUT THIS FEELS DIFFERENT.
___
1) Again, I believe (through experience) players can play BETTER when they're sick or injured. (For all the simps - think "Jordan flu game".)
2) I believe w/ the players seeing their teammate ON THE BATTLEFIELD w/ them, they will PLAY HARDER. Again, I don't normally buy into this - think Damar Hamlin - this is different, because they can see him walking back into the huddle, they can see him in pain, the can see him leading BY EXAMPLE.
3) There are pain meds - high ankle sprains can't get worse - it's dealing w/ pain.
4) I don't think the Bengals will get a pass rush on this oline. 30 sacks all year (that's not alot). An the Chiefs oline is one of the best. I think Mahomes was only sacked 25 times. I think the olineman (an I know a couple), are gonna be ready to run block for their Guy.
5) I THINK the Chiefs will get pressured on Burrrow. Last week, we knew the Bills were overrated, an they got no pass rush on that beat up oline. Well, this week, without the snow equalizing the trenches, the spotty oline is gonna be noticeable.
6) Mahomes is interested again. You see the passion on the side line when the owner made him go get an xray. Guy doesn't wanna be "second to Joe Borrow". He's like that big fish that doesn't care about eating all the smaller ones around him- been there, done that- until you give him a reason.

I've been waiting to bet the Bengals in this round literally all year too - an I THINK I'm gonna go the other way.

I've had a relatively average high ankle sprain before. Ace bandaged up to finish out play. The next 3 days I swear I thought it was a fracture, but it was just the muscles telling me I overreached the limit. He has time to get to the standing and playing part if he limits himself this week. No practice though and he will have the therapy and trainers to stretch it out. But guaranteed odds here, he will not be able to plant on that foot if he decides to go mobile. The Bungles already know how to win this game, Patrick will be lucky to play the 2nd half

Also once you roll your ankle, it's extremely easy to roll it again. Even a little divot in the yard, the ankle has to stay as tight as possible. Look at how tight he was taped up after he came out with the trainers. Hobbling around with a Peg Leg
Cin already -2

Put your whole bankroll on Cincinnati then.

My cousin's drug dealer knows a guy in the Chiefs training room, he said Mahomes was seen playing hackey sack today but was doing it on crutches. Tough to tell from that inside info if the ankle is bugging him or not

That would be silly... nothing is that certain in football especially with three injured oline men.
What is certain is there is a ton of value on Cincy, because this line is being priced as if Mahomes is only a little hurt...
This remind me a lot of the Giants Patriots 2012 Super Bowl. It was extremely obvious Gronk either broke his leg or hurt it real bad in the championship game. He was their biggest weapon.The giants were still +3. I saw a lot of value there. Granted mahomes has way more impact than Gronk... but just using this as an example. Gronk ended up being in plays just for show and pretty much couldn’t do a single thing... he was close to catching the Hail Mary at the end though lol...
This is not Djokovic’s hamstring injury where he is still going to easily win the Australian open... I think one thing bookmakers and their god algorithm are bad at is handicapping when injuries are at play. They are unable to differentiate between one that will DEFINITELY affect your play and one that won’t. If you twist your ankle you might gobble around but wake up the next day and forget you even got hurt yesterday... Other injuries like a stress fracture or high ankle sprain you could easily play through but then be struggling to walk for the next two months...
I hate to sound conceited here but unless you played sports at a high level AND lived through these injuries yourself it is probably hard for you to tell... Dude had a great post of how good he felt the day of but then how bad it was the next day... and I had many similar experiences...
To everyone out there who ever got injured when they were flying high and at their best.... or whoever out there had their hopes and dreams crushed by a season ending injury... you can benefit from your experience by backing Cincy.
And regarding painkillers... the type of pain killer you would need to play through this high ankle sprain without any pain would also affect your mental state and decision making... and it won’t make up for the lost strength of your throwing leg being gimped. If he cannot make throws downfield then Mahomes is NOT a threat at all. It’s why Brees and Manning would do so bad against good defenses late in their career... the bad defenses would play them normally and get sliced up with dink and dunks and other shenanigans... Good defenses would stack the box and dare them to thrown downfield and guess what they never did...
Super long post... but to sum it up.. it’s his throwing leg and it hurt REAL bad. If Chiefs win... great! now I get to fade them in the Super Bowl if Eagles/9ers are -3 or less.

@DonkeyPlays
I actually think the line is set where the books think:
1) Mahomes is only slightly injured, if at all
2) They want action on Cincy (an they're getting it)
If Mahomes was hurt badly, the odds would be Cincy -6.5, not a pick em with 80% coming in on the Bengals.
IMO

6.5 is really pushing it

Mahomes will be taped up and shot up again so maybe won't hobble as much. Just don't remember seeing Mahomes hobbling like that last time he had a high ankle sprain 3 seasons ago. Kinda baffling for Reid to say this ankle injury isn't as bad as the last one... We shall see come Sunday...

Are you a Doctor? No you're not. So stfu. Of course it can get worse and also areas of the body that are compensating for an injury
Makes me really wonder if you even got hurt much less play sports hurt...shoot. or even played sports at this point
