Now what is going on is the Chiefs are trying to protect their investment so the coaching staff has tweaked Mahomes natural game and attempted to turn him to a pocket passer. quick release dink dunk checkdown. They cut out his scrambling to limit risk of bad injury. And it's failing miserably.
Mahomes is coached up now to basically do what Alex Smith was doing.
Public is still very slow and blind. They still cannot see this. They still have this perception Mahomes is a top QB future hall of famer.
The truth is Mahomes has the ability to single handedly screw up a game exactly like Zach Wilson.
KC defense has been forced to step up and carry the team this year.
Mahomes just has a great O line and good enough coaching staff to protect him and they put him in less stressful less difficult situations. If you put Mahomes on the Jets, he would definitely go 4-13. So he's definitely not anything special.
It's not same Chiefs offense anymore. Those high scores and explosive offense is a thing of the past. It's over. It's now a dink dunk choppy offense that punts alot and settles for field goals.
Raiders only need to score 13-14 points to cover because Mahomes and chiefs will put up their average lowly points in the low 20's.
Even if chiefs defense able to get some stops, Mahomes will make their offense stall and the offense will punt it right back to Raiders to help them cover. When you need Chiefs TD, Mahomes will stall you out and give you a field goal instead.
All this will be enough to sabotage -9.
