Mike McCarthy is one of the top offensive play callers and QB groomers in the league. The problem is that he gets zero recognition.....Aaron Rodgers is his QB.......This is all about him now.......A chance for the rest of us not familiar with him to see how good he is at calling an offensive game. Look at what he did with Matt Flynn.....made him look like an nfl starter and getting him a 26 million dollar contract with Seattle...Flynn couldn’t even win the starter job at camp
Brett Hundley is better than Flynn by a mile and is perfectly capable of running this offense...forget about last week. There isn’t a QB on this planet that could’ve come into that environment and won under those circumstances....even if Aaron Rodgers played the entire game, the packers would’ve had a hard time winning. Expect an entirely different approach to this game. Zone reads, quick slants, bootlegs, playaction, sweeps....he will use the very thing in his arsenal to put hundley in the best possible position to lead this offense....He’s mobile, has a rocket accurate arm and he’s been watching the best Qb on the planet for three years...he’s ready.
I am perfectly confident Green Bay wins this game, but will be taking the points for insurance.
Also, I’m sure you guys all saw mccarthy snap at the reporter when asked about potentially signing kaepernick. He wasn’t snapping, he was just being cocky and confident.....he can’t wait To show us his new toy.

tbh we saw with giants...when big players go out the team is underestimated and usually play over expectation plus there isnt much tape on hundly i think he may have some success...nwo d has been better but they just let up a lo of pts vs det hobbling stafford... i think ur right with ur analysis and brees isnt the best out doors

I like GB this week but don't agree with this analysis at all. The last time Rodgers was out (2013) they went 2-5-1. McCarthy is in the bottom tier of coaches in the league and would have been fired a long time ago were it not for ARod.
Still, I think the players rally around Hundley and at least keep this game close.
To me, GB is no better than a .500 team the rest of the way, and even that would be a miracle.

I agree. McCarthy is not a top tiered coach. Have not seen a gameplay really ever win the Packers anything of note. It always comes down to Rogers Rogers Rogers.

Gotta check what Dom Capers has done vs Brees n Sean Payton in his career...
That's an area no one seems to be talking about.
I'll look at few things for you soon. Great matchup on both sides.
Ok so Drew Brees has gone up against Dom Capers 5 times in his career. In 2002 and 2004 he was with the Chargers and Capers was the HC of the Texans. Brees was basically a rookie in 2002...
In all 5 games, Brees's teams averaged 31.2 points scored against him, 12 TD's to 1 INT, and an avg passer rating of 110.62.
If we narrow it down to Brees and Sean Payton vs a Dom Capers defense, we have 3 games, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
In those 3 games Brees's team scored an average of 35 points, 9 TD's to 0 INT's, and an avg passer rating of 119.96
I was leaning Packers, but now I wouldn't touch them with ANYONE's money. No thanks.
Last week Brees threw his first interceptions of the year against Detroit. His toughest test to date, the Lions are ranked 9th vs the pass per dvoa. The Packers are ranked 19th vs the pass per dvoa.
He has 10 TD's to 2 INT's this year. Brees is ranked 3rd in DYAR and 10th in QBR.
Capers is a blitzing coordinator. Brees this year has a 114.6 QBR vs the blitz, which is 4th best in the NFL
*Also, the Saints D coordinator Dennis Allen went up against McCarthy and the Pack only once in his career, way back in 2011 as DC of the Broncos. They gave up 49 points, but that was vs Aaron Rodgers and a Packer team that went 15-1 that year...then the Pack lost to Eli Manning and the Giants in their 1st playoff game
Needles to say, Dennis Allen's history is too long ago, and too sample size, and vs the baddest QB in the land*

Hundley will have a real hard time vs this ball hawking new look saint D. esp. with that packer depleted O line and NOs offence will shine vs a real real banged up secondary.....not to mention what Ingram and Kamara will do on the ground and on short and screen passes. Both teams mind sets are going in totally opp. directions right now after what happened in Min. on sunday and what the saints have been doing and dominating the last 3 games.
Saints 34-10

imo, both of these coaches owe their jobs to their qbs. not a real fan of either one. almost a coin flip game, but leaning hard on new Orleans with bree's ,5.5 is a lot of pts hate to lay it as road fav, one thing is for sure he will keep throwing . btw great info in this thread

Great analysis undermysac. I was also leaning towards GB but now i'm back on the fence.
This analysis makes me like the over because Brees will have his 3+ touchdowns against that GB defense and I believe Hundley will do just fine in that offense. As OP stated, we have seen other "no name" QBs thrive in this offense so we should not be surprised when GB starts putting points up on the board. BOL

I think Mike is just an average Coach.......although I like GB this week, the whole team will RISE in Rodgers absence AND McCarthy will run the ball more, something he usually does when team plays its best!

Your opinion will change after this game....hundley will not be changing the play at the line....this will be a McCarthy lead offensive game plan.
The defense however is not under his control.

gonna lay off of it, but seeing how I have so many pre-seaon win totals, division wins, division 2nd or better bets on GB I really hope you're right OP. BOL
