MNF 12/17 Bears / Vikings

Still kicking this one around, but I am leaning heavily towards the over 43, still undecided on the side.

 

Chicago is reduced to signing defensive linemen off the street, the dome should be insane tonight, and you have a QB in Orton who hasn't played in years. That's the third time we've seen that this week, and the other two were outright underdog winners (Hill for SF & Collins for Wash) Jackson has gotten better as a QB as the season has gone on, and I really like what Minnesota has done by playing to their strengths of running the ball & playing defense under coach Childress.

 

This one could be a Viking blowout rather easily, I don't know what Orton is going to bring to this offense.

I was a bit disappointed with MN last week....they blew the Niners out, but they didn't look that great doing it.  And the Niners executed a nice scheme against AP.  I'm just not sure the Bears will have the personnel to do the same considering their injuries.....and MN should have a response to the blitzing corners approach SF had as they have now seen it.  SF also tackled very well.  MN has also chewed up younger/more inexperienced QB's lately.

 

That said, MN doesn't have enough IMO to warrant plopping down a bet on the DD home favorite on a 4 game winning streak playing for their playoffs lives in front of the MNF crowd playing a team with their 3rd string QB.  Chicago or nothing on the side for me.  Haven't crunched numbers on a total yet.

Orton is simply taking a "what they heck" approach, a sort of last great act of defiance with monster Minnesota defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams and the angry purple gang bearing down on him.

"I think the entire team should play pretty light and without a lot of pressure on us," Orton said. "We're not in good shape right now playoff-wise and everything, so not a lot of pressure on us. So just go out and try to play well."

I agree with everything you're saying Hutch, it's the Orton factor that has me hesitant. Bears have enough weopons on offense to stay inside the number IF Orton can be effective. He could just as easily cough it up 2 or 3 times and have this thing get very lopsided. I'm sold on the over here - Minny is good for 28 at least here imo, just not sure if were looking at 28-21 or 48-17, it all comes down to Orton. I'll probably make my stand with the over 43 and put the side in a reverse. I have 10 & 43 from local 1, I expect higherthan 10 from local 2.

Vikings -10 is the bet (but I don't wager on or against the Vikings).  I can't see how Orton will move the ball on our defense. 

 

Hutch - We have been beating up on MORE experienced QBs, not more inexperienced.  Kitna, Dilfer, Manning, etc.  Orton doesn't have that many starts under his belt.  The dome will be loud as shit tonight and the Bears are going against a pissed off A P that had a horrible week last week. 

Bears have had 11 days to prepare and are given 11.

 

Bears play spoiler the rest of the season.  FUCK your Vikings.  You can go nowhere just like in 1998 AND 2000.  Born losers up there you are.

I'm going to be on the Vikings -10 & over 43, just not certain of how I'm playing it yet. Most likely -

 

 

 

Liking the Vikings more & more here, I think it's the right call. Orton did nothing spectaular as the starter the last time around, the Bears won because of their defense. Vikings are winning by DD often, Bears have managed to keep games close so something has to give. I'm going to back the team I think will win this game, and hope they do enough to get the cover.

the same reason why the vikings are a good pick is why the o/u is too tough to call.  Orton and the bears may not even score more than a couple field goals.  Minnesota offense is getting better and they scored 34 in chicago which is possible again tonight but the bears 31 in that game was at home and a fluke at that.  With a new quarterback its almost impossible to guess how they come out.  Vikings - 10.5 is an easy pick....Vikings 28 - 13...

3rd Went 5 - 5 yesterday but lost my 10 unit play Pitt and my 4 unit play St Louis so I'm in the negative this week. It's really crazy all year whenever I bump my units up I get blasted and they are my strong plays. Anyway how strong is your Vikes/over play. Good luck my friend.

I like the OVER 43. Bears will have good field position all night. They won't kick to Hester. Vikings will score early & often. Bears D is banged up big time.
