I see how he does it.  

Playing the team total has its advantages.  If you can pick a team to win straight up, they will get over 20 points and if your team picking is losing the game, your team total can be over so your card hits too. 

Like today, I'm on tb so I should rather play tb team total over instead. 

 

2nd game, I picked chargers to win so I should pick chargers team total Instead.
