Hard to say how this game will play out in the end; on paper (which is just paper nothing more) these two defenses can shut down a redzone on an opponent--any opponent. Atlanta can look great offensively for a few series, then be shut down entirely.
A game can look to go under, then implode on wierd plays. Case in point, A week ago in the headliner game of the week, SF was dominating defensively and controlling the ball on the ground. GB had just 1 score and it was late in the 3rd qrtr.
SF ran a play on 3rd and short and the ball carrier looked like he passed the yrd marker for a 1st down. The replay was "inconclusive" to overturn, but clearly the scab official made a very poor ball placement. Next play: punt. GB held on the punt return play and a lineman clearly blocked in the back. GB was desperate for a score and their special teams tried to push the limits of the rules to get a score--this is normally caught by good officiating. A TD was scored, but a "flag on the play." Everything appeared to be normal... Then the officials announced "no flag on the play." (!!!) A hometown crowd pleaser, and a TD for an offense that had to that point done NOTHING all day.
Next play offensively for GB, was an INT for a 30+ yrd TD. Improbable for Aaron Rodgers, and it looked like pass interference. Again, a no call. Players are getting away with shit because of the poor officiating, and the players are clever enought o know what the stripes are missing, overlooking, or plain stupidly not knowing what to call. They are not taking over the game.
In the case of the SF @ GB game, in a matter of less than 1 minute, two TDs were scored because of poor officiating, and neither was an offensive TD.
It was NOT surprising to see GB play under the set total vs Chicago, yet win handily. They are being handled by competent defenses and struggle to find open looks, but their own defense is solid to keep them in the game, esp. @ Lambeau.
Therefore, I say this game LOOKS LIKE it will go under a high number. It should go under. Atlanta likes to score early, then pull back and rely on their defense to take over, and remain conservative on offense.
Then again, please account for craziness as a result of weak officiating.
