@vanzack
you are sliding the parameters of the topic......
the record is just the record....nothing more nothing less....winning bets/losing bets......1 part of the equation....
units/ROI is truly what matters of course.....

I agree! But lets agree, units aren't as sexy as a record.
Im up 149 units! Maybe thats good, but maybe it isnt so great if you are betting 1,000 units per play.
I think I will concentrate on RECORD only from now on. I want a great record! Units are for losers. Units shmunits.
Tonights MNF pick:
COLTS +48.5 -100000
I expect to be 1-0 tonight!

of course I am, he is posting units risked....you can do the math and figure out the profit/loss easily (well not quite since odds arent posted on spread plays)
and yes I acknowledge and compliment his great week last week......

if someone wants to bet 1.25 favourites and post a 100-25 record all the power to them.....anyone who knows the numbers knows they are only breaking even......
and if others dont understand they probably shouldnt be tailing them.....

W/L record of units are more important.
I seen cappers with 15-21 records who had +50 units. They knew which games to bet more units on.
This is my opinion.

In all seriousness.... This is the only thing that matters.
It is a combination of both methods.... Record by UNITS, not Wins and Losses.

Yup, the record is just window dressing if you dont know the context behind it......

not sure what you meant here
1 guy can be 15-21 +50 units
another can be 100-25 and break even

Ya dont add the MLs in the record unless its a stand alone play. There no reason to be 2-0, 0-2 or 1-1 on a game. If the the dog doesn't cover the spread, you lost 2 bets of unequal weight as obviously they didn't win SU....which just makes the record/units thing exhausting. As long as wins vs spread & ML are counted as 1 its all a wash and doesn't make anything false or misrepresented....
The MLs are the way to go with NFL dogs as you well k ow, as if the spread doesn't come into play as often as people think. If the dog covers, they have a great chance to win SU. Not betting 20-25% of your total amount wagered on the dog ml will make people lose out on winnings....
Of course hit above .500 on dog mls is damn near impossible.....so your record shouldn't be dragged down due to those wagers being lumped in with regular plays....

now you are being facetious. You would never make that bet but I see your point of just posting a winning play. I agree with dubz, a record is a record of wins and losses. If you post a pick that you actually bet on, then you should also record the result. If you are going to post a silly bet that is -10,000 then no one will pay attention to your plays..
you did great the last 2 weeks..you were almost even this week. Still great record. If the last 2 weeks had ML posts then you should also record those as wins especially if you bet those yourself.
anyway keep up the good work!

there is plenty reason to be 2-0, 0-2 or 1-1 on a game.....
use the dolphins from yesterday as an example, if they lost 24-20 you cover the spread for a W and lose on the ML for a L
if the spread hits and you bet a larger amount on it you are + money even if the smaller ML bet loses.....for easy numbers spread -110 risk 110 to win 100....ML bet 25 to win 75...you went 1-1 on the game +75$ , 2 picks within the same game...

looks like 9.5 - 14 as well....unless you added 0.5 to factor in the juice on the spread picks or added the 49ers ml 0.5 units from post #3....props if you did

I meant to say win / loss record of units not actually per plays. Per plays only matter if every wager is the same unit.
Last year we had this same debate. I never post units but will post a x10 or x20 play. I count those x20 plays as win/loss not per play. Got a lot of hate for doing that.
That’s why this year is just Win / Loss record.
Accurate records keep the Haters at bay….
