Green Bay has been a pretty unlucky team thus far in the season. They've had to play @ LA Rams, @ New England Patriots, and @ Seattle Seahawks on the short Thursday game over the past 4 weeks. Remember, road teams on Thursday this year have had a very hard time winning - and Green Bay was winning throughout that game last weekend. They also had a draw at home earlier in the year to Minnesota in a game which should have been a victory on one of the worst roughing the passer calls we've seen in history. I was down on Green Bay earlier in the year, but this team is a lot better than their 4-5-1 record states.
Despite the disadvantages they've seen thus far, I do like there chances moving forward. I know this will be a very tough game in Minnesota, but if they can somehow win they have home games against the Cardinals, Falcons and Lions, and two road games at Chicago and at NY Jets. I know Minnesota is a very tough place to play at - however I do believe they can finish the year extremely strong.
A 5-1 finish is very attainable for them - would 9-6-1 be enough for them to sneak into the playoffs? Maybe maybe not, but again I think the Packers season comes down to this game and they know it. Important game for Minnesota as well, but I really like getting Green Bay at higher than a field goal here as this is make it or break it for an undervalued team.
I'm also going to put a half unit on them to win the NFC at +3885 (bookmaker) because if they do happen to beat the Vikings, I do believe they'll sneak into the wildcard. This game is the key, as Minnesota plays so much better at home, however, I'll take my chances with A-Rod.
Oakland Raiders @ Baltimore Ravens
Another team I think will finish the season very strong is the Ravens. Unlike most teams, Baltimore had their bye week extremely late in the season even though they needed it earlier as they were quite unhealthy (and lost some games because of it). Now after the bye they got their first win with Lamar Jackson against the Bengals, and now get to face the Raiders, Falcons, Bucs, Chargers, Browns, and Chiefs - while being predominantly very healthy outside of Flacco being out a week or two. I believe the Ravens will start to show their true colors here late in the season, they still have the best defense in the AFC and I think they are still a darkhorse that can sneak into the wildcard. I'm placing a half unit on them to win the AFC today at +3700 as well (5dimes).
