I think most everyone who has been doing this long enough can relate. I've taken months and years off before... just to reset and refocus. Hang in there and look for some other hobbies to occupy your time for a while.

I probably cant tell you anything that you already dont know. You just dont execute it. I will link at the bottom a thread from 2005, where I talk about money management. I suggest you read it all - the formatting has been lost over the years so it is a tough read but power through. I advocate goal based wagering. Just like in life - how can you succeed if you dont have a defined goal? How do you know when you are successful - or how to plan the path to the goal if you dont have one?
I guarantee you dont have a goal - just like the 99.9 mouthbreathers at covers. They simply fire away week after week - hoping for the best. And when it goes south, they try to bet their way out - and then say "if I cant win nobody can win". Nobody wants to put in the work, and nobody wants to have discipline.
You notice what I did after I went 0 for 6 in week 2? Nothing different. Didnt bet more. Just stuck the plan. And I have won 16+ units since then. And I do this year after year after year while I see the transient covers posters come and go to the scrap heap of wagerings graveyard.
I havent had a losing season in a while - but there will be some coming - who knows maybe even this year. Doesnt matter. My trendline is up, and way above zero.
Get a plan. Execute the plan. It is really not overly complicated. It takes discipline, a goal, and a plan.

dude if you are down 20k already on the season that's really hard to come back from, I've been gambling 22 years and never had losses even close to that in an entire season even in the beginning when I was a total mug just betting favorites, chasing losses, trying to double up every time i won etc.
You're definitely betting way too much. Now you're gonna have that loss amount weighing on you and feel like you can't decrease to a smaller amount or you'll never win it back but that's what you need to do. Draw a line under it, forget about it and try something else.
Some people say 5 percent of your bankroll is what you should bet. I say go even more conservative and only bet 3% on one unit plays and keep most of your plays to 1 to 2 units. Occasionally a 4 or 5 unit play. Then increase in playoffs a little bit if you want but even then you don't have to. The Super Bowl I typically bet 3 to 5 units but some years I just did 1 or 2.
I actually recommend for novice bettors to bet the same amount every game. When you're new the games you think are locks are usually ones that blow up in your face and the little home dogs you liked a little bit are the clever plays that win.
If you're intent on not stopping I suggest you start with a 1k bankroll and bet 33 bucks per unit that's 3 percent with juice. You'll not get 20k back that way, and you're not trying to.
Just see after two months if you would have done any better or just dug the hole deeper. If it's the latter, you'll be glad you stuck to small bets and know you have still much to learn.
Don't increase bets to try and cover losses or get greedy and make a 'big score' when you're up (that usually ends up in giving the profit back in one bet). Don't do any parlays. Just slow and steady and forget about that 20k donated already

This is honestly the best advice anyone can give you. As difficult as it is to follow it. If you don't follow it you're likely gonna head down a dark road.
