The guy asked me what I thought about the game and I answered him. It has nothing to do with widening my scope...I had looked over all the games before today and that's what I thought of that game.

If there was such thing as a "bailout game" then everybody would beat the books and there'd be no need for a covers.com

First off, 95% of these games, if not more, are sweated down to the wire. That's the nature of the beast, Vegas is pretty good with the lines. If not, we'd all be on the right side more often and a tad bit richer as well.
And it's funny you should mention taking into account the nonsensical "meaningless" TDs into my capping because on two occasions here I actually did. I was talking to a friend on Friday who was big on Philly this week and my exact words to him were, "6.5 points are a lot to be laying on the road, even against the Lions. Do you really think a young Philly team, with Vick at QB, deserves that much respect already? I wouldn't be surprised to get a backdoor cover on a meaningless TD in the last minute." I also figured the San Diego game was going to be a blowout so you knew they'd be throwing late and in that case, anything can happen. Now, of course I didn't bank on Gerrard getting pulled and coming back in on 4th down because of injury, but who's to say McCown doesn't convert that 4th and Goal at the 3 himself? It's not like we're talking 4th and 10 from the 34 or even such a major upgrade at QB between Gerrard and McCown.
As far as tonight's over, I look at it this way: San Fran gave up 31 points last week to an abismal Seattle team. Do I think either Singletery or themselves is going to allow for a repeat of that terror? No. But they also aren't playing Seattle this time. They're going up against one of the most explosive offenses in the league in New Orleans. They also have a guy named Frank Gore in the backfield who I like to have a monster season from here on out and he's going against one of the most porous run defenses in the NFL. The over just seems like the way to go to me if you need action on the game, but like I said, I'll just be watching as a fan of football.
