is going to cost a team a big game, like a playoff game.
If Greene takes the knee at the 1, the sit on the ball and win.
But because they scored, they gave NE a CHANCE.
They will only take it seriously when it happens on national TV in a big game, but it is inevitable that it WILL happen.
i loved it cuz i had the over! but C'MON MAN! who doesnt want to run up the score on the PATS? but being up 2 scores in the 4th with 2 minutes left? it had to take a miracle fo the pats to win the game last night.

I guess the threshold for a miracle is low these days.
One different bounce on the onsides kick, and they have 24 seconds to score to tie.
Unlikely? Yes. Miracle? Maybe biblical scholars would argue that.

I was reading laughing the people who reply to van in this thread. Its a fundamental difference of being able to read and comprehend a man's rational thought and not being able to think of anything other than your own moronic ideas. Thats why this is missing a lot of people.
But, for something that wont be missed by anyone:
Read this hysterical story.

Once again, argue if you want, but it will happen one day.
Please bump this thread when it does.
On January 15, 2153 the Tokyo Hammers beat the Chicago Bears after the Hammers score 14 points in the last 50 seconds. Vanzack's brain says to Ted Williams's brain, "I called that! They should've downed that ball instead of scoring a touchdown. I knew it would happen!"

Scenario A) Greene kneels down at the 1. Yes, maybe Greene somehow gets injured while kneeling, but highly doubftul since his leg does that type of movement regularly. Sanchez takes 3 snaps, kneels 3 times & the game finishes. 21-14 Jets.
Scenario B) Greene scores a TD Patriots get the ball back, drive the field & score a TD. During all those HARD HITTING plays, the odds of a Jet getting injured is far more likely than Greene kneeling down. Onside kick, Patriots recover. Brady gets four hail mary throws in to the endzoen to tie it up.
Which scenario gives the Jets the best possible shot at winning?

Clearly there are a lot of morons on here.

I was arguing with my brother about this... (despite me needing the under) and it amazes me how many people would want the score. It was an AUTOMATIC WIN (barring any fumble on a kneel) if they freaking Greene would just go down and have the Jets kill the clock. A TD, gave the Pats a chance at miracle, which is not impossible...very unlikely but a chance- nonetheless.

I completely agree with you that falling down is the right play, but you do realize that your percentages agree with Moo and not with your 95%/96% comment, right?
.35*.1*.1 = .35% chance of losing or a 99.65% chance of losing.
I knew this wasn't going to slip through, seconds after my little finger lifted off the enter key...
What a fn horses ass I am.... I know remember why I never would have made it through law school... It's like you make your opening statement laying out your case, and the immidately go about tearing it apart with facts.... what a dumbass.
Here's another % I believe is true 95% to 100% of the stupid embarrasing things I've said in my life come at the bottom 3 fingers of a fifth of Stoli

You can play the 'what if' game with everything. What if Greene slid down and fumbled the ball or what if Greene slid down at the one and blows out his knee in doing so? What if. Blah, blah.
It might be a "what if" game to you, but the numbers say you are golden if you take a knee. To the tune of 100%. It's not rocket science.

If Cromartie falls on the ball, the Pats still had 2 timeouts..(If im not mistaken)..and 3 stops.. with 2 stoppages.. the Pats still will have some time left..

You’re probably right, but I am so glad he didn’t. I was on the 2nd half over LARGE and if he would have taken a knee at the 1 I might have put my remote through my tv screen.

is taking 3 snaps from center and kneeling without the possibility of fumbling really 100.000 percent?
is it possible for an idiot player to move early, get flagged for illegal motion and stop the clock?
is it possible for an idiot player to let his emotions get away from him, get flagged for a personal foul and stop the clock?
do unimaginable glitchs and miracles happen that shock the sporting world ever happen? could they stop the clock?
how about some freakish and obviously unfair NFL rule pops up and stops the clock? re: tuck rule?
what if the offensive left guard has a heart attack, drops dead face first to the ground? injury? kneeling team forced to use a time out, the clock stops.
although unlikely and just playing devil's advocate, i'd agree taking a knee would be the percentage move, but to say taking a knee is "perfect" and "100%" is not excactly correct either.

Exactly nothing is 100%. Just back in 2007, OSU vs. Troy, with 54 seconds left, the Cowboys lined up in victory formation. Cowboy quarterback Brandon Weeden fumbled the snap. Troy linebacker Daniel Sheffield recovered at the Trojan 34-yard line.

Thats college... In the history of the NFL find ONE time when a team knelt on it and fumbled or lost.. GL.. It has never happened .. Thus 100% as of now after 15 or so years.. The biggest transgression in this whole sceniro is the uneccessary risk of INJURY to the team that haves to go back out on the field during the playoffs.. That alone is a strong enough reason to knell.. Revis blows out a knee on the last drive by NE and watch teams start kneeling.. As a gambler wish teams would kneel the comebacks after a TD in this situation never feels as good as a loss in the same situation..

So your argument is that it isnt 100%?
OK. Fine. You win. It is not 100%.
So, is it still higher than scoring and kicking off?
Should I adjust it to: go down instead of score 99.9% vs score 98.5%? Does that make you happy?

I think I have made my point. It will happen one day, or a major injury will occur because of it.
If you are debating the other side, there is no other answer except you are a mouthbreathing moron who shouldnt be walking the streets alone, much less gambling.
Sorry, there is no middle ground here. Some things are debatable, this isnt, and if you cant see it - or better yet insist on debating that the sky is yellow instead of blue, have at it.

No, no it isn't.
Vanzack is simply making things up.
Well, historically it is 100%.
Can an earthquake stop the game before the second snap? yes, but I wouldnt gameplan for it.
You are a mouthbreathing moron. You are debating a point that makes no difference in this debate. Until you can say that whatever the odds are (if they are not 100%) are LOWER than the odds of scoring, you have no debate.

You clearly have no grasp of probability or its use.
Clearly, its impossible to talk sense to humans Van.. It really is
If anyone doesn't understand how taking a knee MAKES IT IN NO WAY POSSIBLE TO LOSE BY DOING THIS, you really need to stop gambling first of all and 2nd you need to go finally try out college.
