Let me preface this by saying, yes everything the Falcons did worked and yes, they won. That said, there were some questionable decisions in that 4th quarter that are worth talking about (especially as the Falcons progress in the playoffs).
at 13:48 the falcons get the ball back UP 16 POINTS. Keeping in mind that it will take 2 seattle tds plus 2 two pt conversions for Seattle to get back in it, the odds of Atlanta winning are very high. the immediate way to increase those odds are to chew up some clock. if this is a new england game, Blount is carrying the ball behind the heavy package. Does Atlanta run the ball? No. Two incomplete passes, followed by another pass (ruled incomplete but reversed). then a run. Freeman up the gut? No. Coleman to the OUTSIDE. Loss of 4. Do they run again? No. Ryan gets sacked. And FUMBLES. Lucky is as lucky does, the Falcons recover. if they don't, Seattle would have the ball at the ATL 23. The probability of a Seattle win would have greatly increased. Punt. Seattle get int'd at the ATL 9, run back to Seattle 46. Atlanta's chances of winning go up again. They finally start running the ball, except for a 2 & 9 throw to Tollolo (who of course runs out of bounds to stop the clock.) Next play? Coleman runs outside for 6. Again, runs OB stopping the clock. What the hell? Really? And here's the part that makes no sense at all. Up 16 with 4 mins left, Ryan throws on 3rd Down. A short FG makes it a 3 TD game with almost no time on the clock making the probably of a Falcon win as close to 100% as possible. But again, it works so no harm no foul, I guess. Next play, 1st and Goal at the 3. Do they run the ball? No. If you ask me, hesitating and taking a knee a couple times to use up clock or force seattle to burn their final time outs is the play. then kick the FG that will further increase the odds of winning. but you could argue that running it is also a safe play, get the TD, go home. BUT, and here's what I don't get, Ryan throws to Sanu. On first down. TD. Great. Game over. But why take the risk? completely unnecessary. As Pete Carroll throwing on the goal line. He could tell you a tale or two.
Anyhow, I was impressed with Ryan and co. They could certainly take the injured Packers. but these coaching decisions make me wonder if these guys are too green to take it all the way.

I completely agree. They say the Falcons (or any other teams that play aggressively) play full 100%, balls to the wall, not letting up what the score is.
But just like anything in life, there are times to be aggressive & times you have to be safe. It's how you control the two that you'll be either a genius or a dumbasss . I remember one game this regular season, Falcons went for it on 4th down in their own territory in OT & didn't make it, lost the game because of that. You see, that's stupid.
Sometimes, these head coaches like Tomlin, Maccarthy & Falcons coach think they can take extra risks because their QBs can always bail them out. Like, IDK WTF Rothlisberger was doing keep passing the ball against Miami two weeks ago with 24 pt lead in 4th quarter 10 minutes to go. Or that fat behind Mccarthy going for it on 4th & 2 at their own 42 yards WITH THE LEAD in that game against NYG.
All these are retarded & unnecessary moves. They say "Oh yeah !, I got some Big hairy fu.ck.n balls, look at me whoo hoo!!!" but if isn't for their QBs to save their sorry fools, they would lose these games & be unemployed as NFL head coaches.
I hope Atlanta doesn't do anything stupid & be prudent in the game against Packers because I really don't want to see that ugly asss green & yellow colored team in SB.

don't get me wrong. i like the aggressive approach. but you've got to be able to adjust to game time circumstances. once you've established yourself in game as the clear favorite to win (in this case by a substantial amount), you look for ways to maximize your chances and minimize your risk. it was a weird weekend. the texans and seahawks took way to few risks as underdogs and the falcons kept firing for no apparent reason.

Excellent point! A rarity here. Certainly is going to be critical esp under the pressure. This....and other.... have me contemplating both gb and pitt teased up to 11. Expecting both to be close if not one winning outright.

They let the pedal off the gas...changed what they were doing and became predictable......they played not to lose of to win. They didn't play that way for the first 3 quarters(aggressive).

No matter what hapenned during that whole sequence of disaster for the Falcons, how in the hello could the Falcon coaching staff not just run the ball after that tremendous catch by Julio and run time and settle for the game clinching field goal by one of the most dependable kickers in the game!

it's much worse than the Carroll game... and Quinn coached under Carroll... two peas in a pod...
i think it is, too, they had the lead by 8. seattle had to score to beat the patriots.they took a chance. it didn't work. but the odds of falcons winning were huge when up by 8. they had the ball. a FG makes it virtually impossible for the pats to come back. even if they miss the FG, they are up 8 with about 2 mins left if they run the ball and kick. makes no sense. pathetic.
