Appreciate the response. Still love to hear from Van. Thanks.

That is what I thought you would say. Just wanted to verify. I hate laying a number like this but I think you are right.

On February 3, 2022, McIngvale placed a $4.5 million wager on the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI. It officially set the record for the largest mobile wager in sports betting history.
As a result of the Houston Astros claiming the 2022 World Series championship, Mack was awarded $75 million in total sports betting payouts, the highest total in sports betting history.
McIngvale has lost $9.2 million betting on the last two CFP National Championship games. In 2022, he bet $6.2 million on the Alabama Crimson Tide to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs; Georgia won, 33–18. A year later, he once again bet against the Bulldogs, putting $3 million on the TCU Horned Frogs to pull the upset. Georgia instead won a second straight championship, 65–7, to date the biggest blowout ever in an FBSbowl game.

Exactly. From Wiki:

The guy is so annoying. Great business guy. He uses a couple guys in Vegas to negotiate with the sportsbooks. It’s a fascinating story that not too many people know about

Bit of a crazy story.... I have heard that Mattress Mack has bet a big amount on Houston today through ESPN Bet. in response, ESPN Bet is now offering a "boost" if you bet the Ravens. You can bet Balt -9.5 +110, and -10.5 +140 - FOR NO LIMITS. This has ripple effects to the marketplace at large, and why you are seeing the line everywhere moving towards the Texans. Good study on how one square can feed a lot of fish.
Mattress Mack doesn't do well on guessing games with other people money. He uses people's money from his his Mattress promotion, so he doesn't care about losing. It's a win win situation for him. He does it almost every year. So don't let a big fish confuse your betting. That does not mean he is right.

I know who MM is, and I know why he does this. The interesting angle here is the effect this has on the marketplace - and potentially you. One whale in Texas bets a side, and you either pay more or pay less as a result. Or.... You get your ass on ESPNBET and arbitrage the shit out of it. Which is what is happening at exchanges everywhere.
For future reference....if a Houston team is in a big game....maybe its a good idea to wait a bit to bet the other team knowing MM probably gonna drop a stack....

FYI, he's betting Houston to offset his promotional stuff. If Houston wins, he gives away a bunch of free furniture. If they lose, everyone has to pay for their furniture. So it's just a hedge. He does this stuff with Texans, Rockets (when they were good) and most often with the Astros
