Ahh, why is Jimmy G running the ball? Niners kick FG. 24-9. Regarding the Rams not kicking a FG earlier. They would still be down 12, even if they made it. You're far better off trying to get a TD. Not sure how many TDs the Rams can score when their offense is that putrid tonight.

WR bails out Goff. Rams score TD to keep things interesting. 24-16.

Rams absolutely should have went for 2 there. Coaches still get this wrong.

I wrote this earlier regarding Houston going for 2:

Teams kick the xp because coaches do not want to be blamed when things go bad because of missed 2 pointers. Going for 2 creates more variance of outcomes, it's creates the opportunity for more good AND for more bad things. Being a NFL coach is a cushy high paying job. Why jeopardize that? It's why coaches generally only go for 2 in non-controversial spots.

 

It's why when teams are down 15 and score a TD, they kick the xp rather than properly going for 2.

Niners with yet another 3rd down conversion, though I think it was their only 3rd down conversion of the 2nd half. Game over.

Congrats to Niners backers. A rather solid, very unspectacular victory. Rams never made the necessary adjustments and couldn't figure anything out.
