Ray Lewis is the best linebacker of this era. The guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he stabbed someone with his own hands, he would have been convicted (he's not OJ). He probably did pay for his buddies' lawyers, but can you sit there and say the same thing? You wouldn't help out your "Boys" if you were a millionaire?
Say what you will, but if you were start a defense in the last 10 years, I'm not sure there are more than 3-4 other players you would pick first (Champ Bailey, Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, etc.).
No reason to be bitter. Besides, I'm sure he really gives a f-u-c-k what you or anyone else on this message board thinks about him. 
The game this weekend comes down to one thing and one thing only.. If the Colts play the same run d they've played all year, it won't matter if me or Ray Lewis plays MLB, the Colts will lose.
Ray is my favorite player and the Ravens are my favorite team, but I definitely agree with that. Roger Goodell seems to rule with an iron fist.
He settled with the families before a civil case(s) was brought before the court. This kept his name from being attached to a civil case, and it's quite obvious he shelled out some cash, which is a form of punishment in itself.
I'm not sure that it is fair that everyone judges him just for the stabbing incident. He was never brought to trial, received an obstruction of justice charge, and his buddies were acquitted of the murder charges. He has done a lot of charity work throughout his career, but that doesn't get the headlines that a stabbing does.
I'm not defending the guy, just trying to show both sides. Off field antics aside, the guy was a fierce competitor and I'd rank him in the top ten LB's to play the game.
