I just can’t with all of this idiotic “scripted” talk. I’ve been lurking the Covers forums since way back when guys like indiancowboy were crushing things and have gained incredible insights over the years.
I decided to register tonight after watching one of the greatest games I’ve ever witnessed (I say this even though I had Buff +1.5) to try and understand how some of you believe these grand conspiracies are slated week in and week out. How does one “fix” a game like we just saw in your mind? What are they fixing it for? How do they get grown men who have played football competitively their entire lives to agree to be on the wrong side of these “scripts”? Gonna need more information from some of you that seem to be on the inside ????

There's no evidence any of the games are staged/scripted. No evidence. None. If you think it is staged/scripted, please present your evidence. (And then wait to be awarded your Pulitzer.)
The time to believe something, anything at all, is after there is sufficient evidence and reason to warrant that belief. Not before.
Who's in on this rigging? The coaching staff? All of the coaches including the assistants or just the head coach?
The players? All of the players or just a selected few? If just some of them, which ones?
The legal sportsbooks around the country? All of the sportsbooks or just a selected few? Which few?
The league itself? Which employees?
The referees and officials? All of the referees or just a selected few?
The writers? The sportscasters? The NFL owners? Their family?
When is the stage/script set? The week before each game? An hour before the game? Prior to the entire season?
Who sets the stage/script? The home team? The league office? The owners?
How long has this been going on for? Months? Years? Decades?
How is the stage/script passed on to those who need to know about it? Via e-mails? Word of mouth? Phone calls? Text messages?
How come none of this correspondence / communication has ever surfaced?
How come not one person who is in on this rigging hasn't come clean? How come there's never been any evidence, ever, that shows NFL games are rigged/staged/scripted?
There are well over 100 plays in an NFL game. Some games see as many as 150 plays. Multiply that by 16 games each week, for four months. That's a lot of plays. You don't think players are capable of dropping passes? You don't think players are capable of fumbling the ball at an inopportune time? You don't think referees are capable of making mistakes on some of these plays? (They don't have the benefit of replay before they must instantly make a decision.) Could YOU as a player or official do any better? Have you ever made a mistake at YOUR job? Have you ever dropped anything, especially when you were trying not to, or when others were trying to take it away from you? How is a bad officiating call or a dropped pass or an untimely fumble in any way EVIDENCE the game is rigged?
I'll say it again. The time to believe in something, anything at all, is after there is sufficient evidence and justification to warrant that belief. Not before. If there is no evidence for leprechauns, fairies, pink unicorns, then there is no valid reason to believe these things. No, there is no evidence the NFL is staged/scripted. Thus, there is no valid justification to believe that it is.
