SEA RB Rawls has been a capable replacement for Lynch, averaging 5.6 yds/rush. MIN avg rush yds/game = 146, SEA = 144, ranking #1 and #2 in the NFL. SEA ranks #5 in rushing yards allowed/game, MIN ranks #21. Advantage Seattle.
Hawks also have the QB advantage. Wilson QBR = 102.9, Bridgewater QBR = 85.4. Wilson ranks #3 with 8.4 yds per pass attempt, Bridgewater is #19 with 7.1 yds/attempt. Hawks can put 8 in the box to stop Peterson, and dare the Vikings to beat them with their passing game. I don't think the Vikes can do that.
A couple random thoughts
---The Hawks have outgained their opponents by about 50 yds/game. The Vikings have actually been outgained by their opponents, this season.
---The Hawks KNOW what it takes to win big games, while the Vikings are still learning. They failed a couple of weeks ago, when hosting the Packers. I expect a similar result vs the Hawks, who are more desperate for a win to stay in playoff contention.
---Bottom line.....this is a bad matchup for the Vikings. The Hawks and Vikings have some similarities, but the Vikings offense is more one-dimensional, relying heavily on their rushing attack. Hawks can neutralize what the Vikes do best, which will be their key to victory.
