Seahawks - Giants Info and Pick

NY Giants are 3-1 and starting to get some of their injured defensive players back (Got Umenyiora back last week 2 sacks and a forced fumble, Justin Tuck maybe this week)

Seattle on the road is just horrible, they have a 3 - 18 record in their last 21 road games and all 18 losses were by at least 10 points

Last 7 times in the Eastern Time Zone going back to 2007 they are 0-7, West Coast teams struggle in the early games on the East Coast

Been outscored 57-17 in their 2 road games this year, that's 8.5 points per game of offense for the Seahawks

If they get behind (which they more than likely will) they are in big trouble, they only average 14 points per game, they're last in overall Offense, 28th in passing, 31st in rushing, they have trouble coming back.

Giants won last year in Seattle 41-7

Seahawks only have 5 sacks on the year so Eli Manning should have a lot of time to throw, The Giants have 12 sacks, 5 by Jason Pierre-Paul, plus like I said they got Umenyiora back last week and he had 2 sacks and he's averaged a little over 10 sacks the last 5 years. TJackson is going to be running for his life. Justin Tuck might play this week also but I doubt it because why risk it against the lowly Seahaks?

Brandon Jacobs could be out but they have Ahmad Bradshaw so no big deal.

The Seahawks were shutout by Pittsburgh in their last trip to the East Coast 3 weeks ago.

As a Zona fan I'm sure you know these cross country trips with early start times are rough on West Coast teams and this will be the Seahawks 2nd trip like this in 21 days.   

Sea is BAD away but that Pitts game was wrong spot for them, Pitts home opener coming off complete out-to-woodshed-beat-down by Bal.

This game could play out the same way as Hawks/Steelers did

Steelers didn't have their A game, but they just wore SEA down, overpowered them, won easily 24-0.   Giants are capable of doing the same to SEA

Not likely that Hawks get shut out again, but a good Giants pass rush vs Hawks wobbly OL should keep SEA from scoring many points

SEAHAWKS GAME PLAN

The Seahawks have been outscored 67-13 in the first half of games so fat this season, so they have to get their offense going at the beginning of the game. So expect Seattle to use the no-huddle offense to make that happen. Defensively, the Seahawks have created just two turnovers and only have five sacks on the year. Last season Giants QB Eli Manning picked them apart, so it will be critical for Seattle to get consistent pressure on New York's offense this week. The Giants also are giving up 116.5 yards rushing a contest on the ground, so expect Seattle to try and run the ball.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Seahawks WR Sidney Rice, averaging 17.1 yards a catch, vs. Giants CB Corey Webster -- At 6-feet, the 29-year-old Webster has decent size, but the Seahawks will look to attack the Giants to create an explosive play with their big-play receiver, so Webster could be a frequent target for Seattle QB Tarvaris Jackson and his go-to-guy in Rice.

Seahawks OT James Carpenter, rookie first-round choice, vs. Giants DE Osi Umenyiora, two-time Pro Bowl selection -- Coming off knee surgery, Umenyiora played well in his first game back against the Cardinals, finishing with two sacks. So expect Carpenter, who has struggled with speed rushers this year, to see a lot of Umenyiora on Sunday.

GIANTS GAME PLAN

One of the key objectives for the Giants on offense this week will be to win the time of possession battle. Over their last two games, both wins, New York has lost the time of possession battle that has left their opponents with too much time on the clock to change the complexion of the game.

One way they will try to do that is to establish their running game, no small task against a Seahawks defensive front that consists of ends Chris Clemons and Red Bryant, and tackles Alan Branch and Brandon Mebane.

Through four games, Seattle has yielded opponents an average of 105.0 yards on the ground, ranking them 14th best in the NFL. The Giants, meanwhile continue to work toward smoothing out communication issues that have resulted in their running game finding little to no room in which to maneuver to chew away at the clock and move the chains.

Defensively, the Giants finally hope to have an answer for stopping the run. In their last two performances, New York has yielded consecutive 100-plus yard rushing performances to opponents totaling 333 yards on 72 carries, an average of 166.5 per game.

Head coach Tom Coughlin said it's simply a matter of personnel deployment and getting the right matchups, but would not indicate if he plans to rely more on his base defense than he has in the past two games.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Giants punt return team, which has allowed opponents 9.3 yards per return, vs. Seahawks PR Leon Washington, who is averaging 10.4 yards per return -- With field position always being critical, the Giants are going to have to make sure they do a better job with tackling the shifty Washington, who is one of the better return men in the league. The Giants haven't quite gotten the desired combination of direction and distance out of punter Steve Weatherford, whose net average is 37.1.

Giants CBs Corey Webster and Aaron Ross vs. Seahawks WRs Sidney Rice, who was with QB Tarvaris Jackson in Minnesota, and rookie Doug Baldwin -- The Giants' goal of not letting the big pass play burn them the last two weeks has been one of the reasons why the Giants have been able to keep games from spiraling out of control during their three-game winning streak. This week, they'll face another pair of big play threats in Rice, who has 11 receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown, and Seahawks leading receiver Baldwin, who is second amongst NFC rookies with 194 receiving yards and who is tied for second among NFC rookies with 12 catches.
