I'm still wondering why LA went for a FG in OT. Did they really think their D would get the ball back with time on the clock or otherwise get a tie? D had a very hard evening and I didn't expect otherwise in the final minutes of OT. So most likely (as happened), after the LA FG, Raiders would get an opportunity for a fieldgoal win in OT. It's gutsy but I think LA should have gone all-in and go for a TD in OT.

This was actually one of my biggest gripes with this game and why the Chargers full on deserved to lose based on their own stupidity. Not necessarily that they didn’t go for the TD all the way, but that they made such ridiculous play calls after being bailed out by a big gain by Mike Williams on 4th down in OT for the umpteenth time.
Check these stats out...going back to the Chargers last two drives in regulation where they scored TD’s to tie and OT, they threw the ball 38 times in a row, before running Ekeler after Williams 4th down conversion. And that passing game was seeing quickly diminishing success.
2nd last drive regulation:
9/13 passing, 1 sack, needed two 4th down saves including the 21 yard one for the TD at the end of the drive.
Last drive regulation:
5/20 passing, needed three 4th down saves on that drive including one that was granted only by penalty on yet another incompletion. Multiple times on this drive Herbert threw 3 straight incompletions on 1st 2nd 3rd downs only to pull it out of the hat on 4th.
OT drive:
2/6 passing, and needed that Mike Williams 4th down save again.
So my problem is after that 4th down conversion in OT, they finally after 38 straight passes ran the ball to Ekeler...and had good success! Chargers were in full control at that point. It had been so long the Raiders D probably didn’t even know what a run play was anymore. Why on earth would you not run the dang ball again and again? The Chargers probably would have accomplished two things...first, they probably would have had success again and been able to convert and keep the drive alive; and second, they would have kept the clock running and burned at the very least another 1:30 off the clock unless Las Vegas used timeouts, and even more time with just another 1st down. Instead it was back to 2 straight incompletions, no 1st down, and didn’t kill any clock. They eventually gave the ball back to LV with 4:30 on the clock, all the time the Raiders would need to get barely in FG range. If they’d left less time the Raiders probably would have been even more conservative had they gotten the ball back at all
Terrible play calling...Chargers were in full control and they gave it away. Zero sympathy.

100% agreement with you guys. They got down inside the 30 yard line and ran the ball finally on 1st and 10. Got 4 yards which is a major success in that situation. 2nd and 6 Herbert throws a poor pass to a covered receiver. 3rd down incomplete and field goal. Why not run again on 2nd down? If you get 3 or 4 yards run again on 3rd down and milk the clock. Was screaming at my TV for that exact reason. Staley coached his way right to a loss and should be fired IMO. For that series and of course the other ridiculous calls.

Staley should be fired immediately. First he went for it on his own 18 and failed. No creativity on that play call. Why call a timeout. Analytics my ass!

Yes, he made the right call. He did exactly what the nfl pays him to do. Lose to the Raiders and keep the SB host curse alive. As Rams will lose in playoffs as well
That curse is dead already. Remember last year SB team and stadium?
