7-9, 8-8 season for this team at best. no way they win 10 games without Brown, this bet is good.

How has their secondary improved?  Did you read my post from earlier in this thread with their corresponding PFF scores, outside of Nelson who did they improve in their sub-par secondary?

The line has went to 9.5, which I didn't anticipate, the majority is now high on the steelers.  The steeler teams in the past were much more talented.  If you remember green bay went to the playoffs and had winning records for I think 7 or 8 straight years, until the last two years when they didn't.  This is the least talented team tomlin has ever coached, we'll see how good he is this year.  This is also the first time the browns could be above 500, the steelers always benefited from playing the garbage browns 2 times during their winning years.

Absolute worst case scenario they beat bengals twice, 1-3 vs browns and ravens, beat dolphins, 49ers, colts, cardinals, bills, jets. 

Rams, chargers, seahawks 50/50.

Realistically think they split with browns and ravens

Worst case scenario I see 9 wins. Realistically 10 wins. Ceiling of 12 wins. 

This steelers team will play a lot like the colts last year.  Just all around team effort. 

This is historically one of the best franchises in the NFL. Don't see them having back to back disappointing seasons.

Some of these comments just make me laugh. Big Ben has NEVER had a losing season. Let that sink in. And now you want to go large on them having one now just because AB left?!? Yes I’m a Steelers fan, but I know football. And you guys keep focusing too much on one game. The Pats game will be close and could easily go either way. 

Now look at their schedule, since that’s what this is all about. The teams they are undisputedly better than and and should beat are the Bengals x2, Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Cardinals. And let’s say they split with both the Browns and Ravens. That right there is 8 wins. Throw in a likely win at home against the Colts and make it 9. Now you are telling me they can’t get one more win against the Seahawks, Niners, Rams, Chargers, or Pats???

Your handle is sixburgh you are viewing everything through black and gold glasses.  Are you able to fade them in certain spots?  As a steelers fan you should know that big ben plays down to his competition, they could very well lose to the dolphins or cardinals who will be bad, just like they lost to the 4-12 raiders last year, they have done that so many times in the last 10 years.  I know this team very well three years ago I was 13-3 ats in their games betting both against and on them.  They are an auto fade as road favorites against sub .500 teams.  You are giving them 2 wins vs bengals like it is automatic, when both games last year were one possession games that could have went either way, (remember the pick play no call) bengals lost dalton, effiert and green, when healthy bengals aren't that bad.  Jets and bills are also improved a lot, not guaranteed wins.  Last year I bet under 10.5 and +350 to not make the playoffs on the steelers and cashed, I know this team and view them objectively because I am not a fan.  They lost a probable hall of famer in brown and a top tier oline coach, the qb is pushing 40 and connor is no leveon bell.  The defense is improved but not elite,  the division is solid, I can't see ten wins or even 9.  winning in Foxboro is something the three b couldn't even do, now the one lone b will do it?  This is the worst supporting cast big ben has ever had, that is not debatable,  they have been loaded on offense for many years.   Ben doesn't even have to have a losing season to win this bet, I would be fine with 8-8, which is more likely then 10-6 imo.

You clearly do not look at the Steelers objectively. You make it sound like they’re going to be one of the worst teams in the league. Secondly, you put waaaay too much stock into Brown. Look what happen when Holmes left, Wallace put up big numbers the next season. When Wallace left, Brown put up big numbers the following season, too. History has shown the Steelers WR’s will still produce at a high rate without AB. Ben is not pushing 40 (he’s only 37). Even then, Brees is 40, Brady 42. Do you hold that against them?

Bills and Jets are terrible, so are the Bengals, yet you try to paint a pretty picture about them to try and justify your argument. The Bengals are the new “garbage Browns”. And even if they lose one game to a bad team, they have plenty of other very winnable games to cover the nine wins. You say the “absolute ceiling” for the Steeers is 8-8? If you think they’re not capable of a winning season, you don’t know football very well.

Have you ever bet against the steelers?   If not then you are a fan and not a serious bettor.

Never said steelers would be one of the worst teams I think they go between 6-8 wins, depending on big bens health. 9 is possible, as is 10 but in my estimate not likely, especially since they won only 9 with brown and big ben throwing for 5,000 yds last year.  He will not throw for 5000 again .  That may sound terrible but only because the steelers have been very good for many years.  You can't compare holmes and Wallace to brown,  neither of them ever broke 80 catches in a year, Brown had 6 consecutive years of over 100 catches and a thousand yards he is a likely hall of famer and the team won many games because of him, and they did very little to replace him.  If the falcons lost  julio jones and his 100 catches and 1500 yds and didn't get a replacement would you be shocked if the offense wasn't as good?   Juju will know be double covered every play.  They should have kept brown and paid bell and they would likely be dominant this year, but they didn't.  The bills and jets upgraded their rosters dramatically time will tell if they are terrible.  You must want the jets to be terrible since they got bell.  Brees showed decline down the stretch last year, I think his end is near.  Brady is superhuman, been waiting for his decline and it hasn't happened yet.   Again, the bengals are garbage yet the steelers beat them 28-21 (with brown scoring the winning td) and 16-13 (with bengals backup) last year, it wouldn't be shocking if they lost one of those this year.  They lost at the raiders and at the broncos last year as road favorites against sub .500 teams, that is what they've done so many times and should continue to do this year as well.  

Under 9.5 seems like easy money, I just don't like my money tied up for so long. Steelers have a nice recent history of winning, but the chess pieces have changed as lordbettington noted, Roethlisberger had a career year which he is sure to regress from, the departure of AB just makes that even the more likely. They failed to improve their secondary to any degree in the process which IMO means they will be scored against this season, likely even more than last season since tape is available of their weaknesses which teams can exploit when they prepare for matches.

Well, the way you describe the Steelers, it sounds like they’ll be tripping over themselves every single game. I just find it funny how optimistic you are about the Bills and Jets getting “dramatically” better, yet everything is doom and gloom about the Steelers. You’re trying to convince yourself without looking at the whole picture. Yea, Ben can get hurt, so can anyone. He’s missed one game in the past two years, and never more than four in any single season, so you are reaching on that. Alex smith got hurt bad, but it had nothing to do with his age. 

I’m intrigued to see how Bell does without one of the best O-lines in the league. And Brown with Carr throwing him the ball. I’m not saying they won’t, but don’t be surprised if they don’t put up numbers similar to their days in Pittsburgh. 

I actually expect Ju Ju’s numbers to go down, but it won’t be a bad thing. I believe it’ll happen because the Steelers will look to spread the ball around a lot more now that Brown is gone. A lot will depend on how guys like Moncrief and Washington step up. If they do, watch out, it not, then it’ll be a struggle. We just won’t know until they start playing.

Lots of things can happen over the course of a season that can influence wins and losses. And I won’t argue that the Steelers have a knack for playing down to bad teams. But they also offset that by beating tough games against good teams as well. But statistically speaking, the odds are that the Steelers will get at least nine wins this year. Most experts predict them to win 10-12 games. It’s your money, so do what you want. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you. 

The Steelers' ownership is backing away from the GM as Colbert was not resigned after this year and Tomlin was given a one year 'lets see' contract. Steeler Nation is not happy and reverberations are bubbling up to the owner, Art 'Fredo' Rooney the 2nd. Fredo is the dumb grandson who makes the big decisions. 

Left to his own devices, this guy is taking this once proud franchise down the toilet bowl. Once Ben leaves, it will spell doom...then the world will see what a bunch of buffoons this coaching staff is. 

Wow didn't think steelers would be this bad, under 9 wins is off to a good start.

Pitts isn't going anywhere with Tomlin...end of story. He was down 20-0 yesterday on a 4th and inches in the red zone and he kicked a FG...ha, vintage from him. The master waved the white flag...

Instead of tolerating Brown and Bell and their shenanigans, he should have been disciplining them like a good Father would...instead, his butt kissing them led to them taking a crap on him as they both have zero respect for him. 

Tomlin has a winning record only because he has had a franchise QB his whole tenure...should Ben go down with injury, the Titanic will sink beneath the waves. The GM will leave the building at the end of the year but so too the entire coaching staff now needs to exit stage left...

When God wants to punish a nation or an organization, He gives it leaders who have no wisdom...ownership has played a role in their demise also...too bad they don't have an owner who has wisdom. They are in the hands of a man child who is weak and lacks vision. 

New blood is needed as this organization is circling the toilet bowl. 

How’s this under 9 looking now? A win this Sunday against a three win Cardinals team, and the helpless Jets in two weeks puts them at nine wins. With a little luck they may get another one against the Bills or Ravens. And Tomlin looking like coach of the year.
