So the Rams gave up 2 1st.. 2.. 2nds..& 2 3rds to move up to the #1 pick and draft Goff... Now they had to give up 2 1st to get rid of Goff.. yes folks the 1st round picks were more in part to get rid of Goffs contract than it was squire Stafford..

It was a horrible move when they drafted him. Fischer was still the coach and had ZERO say, it was all on the ownership. Tried to make a big splash drafting a Cali qb in their new Cali city.
Just imagine how much more talent they could be sitting on right now?

So get this-the Rams beat the Seahawks in the playoffs after Wolford goes out with injury. Goff gets blamed for losing to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay with no Kupp and no left tackle.
And now the Rams don't have a first round pick until 2024.
Good luck with that.

Rams will be good for a couple more years than hit a brick wall its not gonna look pretty when they'll have to let some of their talented players go in free agency. definitely planning to mortgage their future to have a shot at playing the Super Bowl in SoFi that is the only reason i see this trade being made....
good luck Rams, better make the most of it

Agree with DK - this team is in a win-now window. Going to be uber-fade material when their Defensive stars all hit FA, and they got no low cost draft picks to backfill.

I agree. But you have to understand what a terrible situation the Rams have put McVay in. Goff was never "his guy". How he coached him up to make him what he is today, is anything short of miraculous.
The writing was on the wall when he chose Wolford to start a play-off game over Goff, even though he was healthy enough to dress/play. Why didn't Bortels even dress?
Agree with DK and dymarik, the Rams are in "win now" mode, and McVay is a no nonsense coach. He's going for it.
And when it comes to evaluating talent of players and coaches, look at what he saw in Brandon Staley. Took a LB coach, made him a DC for 1 year, and the dude is now a HC.
I think McVay definitely knows what he's getting with Stafford, and better than any of us.

Absolutely. The one unknown though is, how is their new coach in evaluating talent? The guy is a ra ra motivator. We don't know much about him.
They also have a new GM. There's no coincidence that he came from the Rams organization.
Sounds like he knows what he's doing. The old gm's and coaches of the Lions seemed to always draft a CB or TE in the first rounds.

@undermysac
True mckvay knows more. We don't know the full.story
Doesn't work like basketball IMO. Worked with Brady but he brought a bunch of players with him and that was a huge upgrade from Winston. They had talent
Lions need to fix their d. Arguably worst in NFL
Like u said who knows. Rams are a better team going into next year

Oddsmakers put the RAMS #2 in the NFC at +500 ...Right behind the Pack ar +450 ...
I'll probably be fading their Futures

3 of 4 years in playoffs, and a SB appearance. It's working so far, obviously.
Stafford just boosted then to 10/1 SB odds

At the end of the day Rams have a talented team to “win now” but I doubt that..SLIGHT upgrade makes a huge difference the first year..the Rams seem VERY DESPERATE almost too desperate and maybe even have ruined the franchise for years to come..in my opinion they should have improved something other than QB..they’ve been close with Goff and it just might not be all Goffs fault..
Glad that’s not my team

Trading Goff to Detroit, is like sending him to a gulag in Siberia. Of course with that big contract, he is set for life financially so no matter where he ends up, he is back on Boogie Street doing tricks and getting fixed.

+650 ....
I was hoping for much longer odds ..
Wonder if they're live to win the division ?

Even if they keep Jimmy G, I think it's worth a small investment. I think there is still a small chance that they could acquire a better qb, if so, those odds would fall.
Once all of San Fran's mash unit heals up this off season, they have a strong squad. Shanahan has McVay's #, maybe the only guy minus Belichick. This is important playing them twice, and now with Stafford under center.
Just my 2 cents

To judge a QB on "what he's done" isn't all that fair. We could find a ton of examples of good players on bad teams and visa versa.
What has DeSean Watson done in his 4 year career? Besides go 4-12 twice in that span.
What has Trubisky done in his 4 year career? Besides going 29-21.
Which guy do you prefer?
