Short writeup/thoughts:
Seattle is 20th in the league in sacks this year. Not so good vs a very experienced QB (Brady). Sure, Seattle is 4th in turnover margin....however, NE is 2nd. Seattle has some awesome defensive numbers...and why wouldnt they? Heres their November-December shedule (they went 4-3 in Sept/Oct and the stats were no where near as good as later on):
Oakland
Giants
KC
Zona
SF
Philly
SF
Zona
STL
Lets see, they faced David Carr, Eli Manning, Alex Smith, Drew Stanton x2, Kaepernick x2, Mark Sanchez and Shaun Hill
Not exactly the names that will be on a HOF ballot any time soon.
However, their biggest problem wont be on defense. Their offense will be the death of them this year. Last year they had Golden Tate and Percy Harvin, who are both gone as is their other deep threat Richardson (who returned kicks as well). That was a big reason i bet GB last week....Seattle has no vertical passing threats. Baldwin and Kearse are maybe 3rd options on most teams, and their TEs aint nothing special. The NE secondary wont need to shade anybody or help with anyone. That will free up the safeties to play closer and help with Lynch, who will find tough sledding up the middle. I dont think Wilson can win this game, not because he isnt capable, but because the Hawks have the least talent at WR in the league....
Now, GB played well until the end, but that was mainly due to coaching. That wont happen this week. Belichek knows that Sea has had trouble with every single team that has a decent TE....Gronk may not have a huger game, but thats because Sea will be focused on him. I expect Amendola and Edelman to both have big games and multiple catches each. I think Blount will not see near the action he did last week as the Hawks are more vulnerable to quicker backs and screens, so Vareen should see the ball a lot.
NE's Nov-Dec schedule:
Denver
Indy
Detroit
GB
SD
Miami
Jets
Buffalo
As you can see, much better qb's/competition. The 2 games they lost were Buffalo (give away game as they had divsion clinched) & GB (in a game Belichek played ultimate vanilla as he assumed GB would make it to the SB)....
So, I think Seattle will struggle to move the ball and NE will capitalize on a couple Wilson mistakes....Brady will carve up this defense as they havent seen anything like it this year, other than GB who is fairly similar.
NE 37
Seattle 20
