I don't understand why people seem to think this line is fishy. Det, despite being 4-6 is not a bad team. This is still the same playoff team from a year ago. And in 4 of their losses they have actually out gained their opponents on avg by a significant amount. Turnovers, penalties and or special teams have did this team in. It's been the theme all year for this team..and I don't expect it to change all a sudden.
Also, one thing that can't be overlooked is Backus will likely be out...this is HUGE. He hasn't missed a start in
12 yrs. If he is out, rookie Reiff will get his first ever start. Last
week when Reiff stepped in after Backus injured himself, the Packers
noticed this and brought heavy pressure and blitz on his side. He
struggled to manage the pressure and ended up with 2 holding penalties
and GB got 5 sacks. If Reiff does play, Philips will surely exploit
this...Houston D-line is tops in sacks and Det already is one of the
worst in protecting their QB...Hou should tee-off on Stafford.
I understand Texans are hitting the road on a short week after two "grueling" games may present a problem, but this is lessened with the fact that Det is coming off a devastating loss...two losses for that matter that just about diminished their playoff hopes. I think the @ Minn begins the tailspin for Det. Heading into the GB game, Det essentially called this a must win. They put everything into this game, and had it all but won. Only to succumb to the pressure vs a team that owns them with so many missed opportunities. LB Justin Durant summed it up best after the game..."To play as well as we did for basically the first 57 minutes of the game
and then to lose it like that, it hurts." This was the sentiment shared amongst the team. Schwartz basically acknowledged they cannot let these losses bring them down....which inevitablly losing will eventually do. Had Det reached their breaking point? It's all subjective but I believe they have.
Lions also struggle vs better teams, 1-5 SU vs teams with a record above .500. Lions are always a sexy/popular underdog on turkey day, despite them not winning in 8 years...Houston's "tough spot" isn't enough for me to back Det this turkey day. Det is falling apart knowing their done...coaches arguing, players being sent home, reshuffling of their line up, etc. I'm going to take my chances with Houston...if det shows up, my hat goes off to them. I also lean under in the Dallas game, but I do believe Dallas' offense shows up.
Houston -3 LARGE Houston/Det under 50.5 Dallas -3
Happy Thanksgiving and good luck all

I have been a lions fan for over 20 yrs (dont ask why) and I agree with your write up. You also have to remember the two and three wr's Burlson and Young are out. While Broyles seems to be decent, Johnson is obviously going to be doubled all game and Pettigrew, while a large target, is soft and seems to have hands made out of stone at times. I love houston -3 like the under and am leaning towards ne and the over in that game. bol cal, lets eat some turkey!

my perception of this line is....lions sucks on thanksgiving, texans are 9-1 and i know it's a short week for both teams, but they are only a -3 fav vs a shitty lions team. your perception is obviously a different point of view on this game.
for what it's worth...i played packers -3 vs lions last week...but i think this thanksgiving for some miracle, the lions will be able to pull it out.
joseph could be a huge lost for that texans secondary if he can't suit up. on the other hand...texans been giving up alot of tds thru the air, no rushing tds this season yet and that plays into the strong game of lions who loves to throw the ball 40x a game.

short week.. The Jack game had to take alot out of the Texans..this game means nothing to them and alot more to Det. Ill take Det plus the points..GL
So Hou risks not vying for the top seed in the AFC and the by week??? There's alot more @ stake for the Texans than what you've stated. They are aiming for the Super Bowl and as conservative as Kubiak is... meaning they play smart and make smart decisions, there is no way in hell they are gonna give up on this game! I only see them losing to NE and maybe IND *this Luck kid is something spectacular* and MIN has proven nothing.

I love when people on here back up their pick by using the phrase "Short Week". Guess what? Both the Lions and the Texans, like it has been for every team that has played on Thursday so far, has had the disadvantage of playing on a "Short Week". The Dolphins and Bills both had a "Short Week" last week.

if anything, i believe the short week leads to both teams playing under the total.
