Btw. the Panthers have had the easiest schedules of all teams in 2015. On an average schedule they go 11-5. They will be crazy overvalued in a lot of games this year and will finish 8-8 ATS or worse.
They aren't a good road team. During the last two years they have covered just two road games against teams who finished the season with a winning record. It was the draw at Cincy and the crazy comeback at Seattle. They finished last season with 4 straight ATS losses on the road.
I don't see how they are going to Mile High - one of the toughest venues - with the same offensive line and a weak secondary and just beat the Broncos, no matter whether it's Manning, Sanchez or Siemian starting at QB. It would be a different scenario when Carolina would be the home side.
The Panthers were -4.5 on a neutral field - which backfired - and now they are -2.5 favs AT Denver? That's crazy. Would you take Panthers -9 if this game was played at Carolina?

Broncos punter Britton Colquitt is no longer on the team, they have a new rookie punter Riley Dixon. Will this hurt the Broncos as far as field position goes?
Sip on that plus money honey!

Just watched some of the rebroadcast of the game. What to make of last night's game and the progress of both teams going forward.
Trevor Siemian surprised alot of people, but I wasn't the least bit surprised that he could perform at least somewhat better than Manning in the Super Bowl. I figured it would be a challenge for the Panthers to game plan for Siemian as there isn't much on him other than maybe some college and preseason tape. In my writeup, Siemian's mobility and arm strength would factor into last night's game and benefit the Broncos offense as opposed to Manning under center. There were 3 instances were Siemian's scrambles helped set up all three Broncos scoring drives, two of them ran for the 1st down and another to set up 2nd and short.
My only surprise about Siemian is he got into a rhythm earlier than i expected and showed poise. thought it would take a few drives before he would settle in. The game plan was simple and it wouldn't be any different from last time. Run the ball, set up the pass, test the rookie corners, let the defense play man coverage and get pressure on Cam. What surprised me most was that Denver's defense in the 1st half looked nothing like that Super Bowl winning defense. The defenders were missing tackles, getting beat in coverage. Cam was not getting touched. Demarcus Ware and Von Miller were nowhere in sight.
Wade Phillips probably gave his defense a pep talk at halftime. The Bronco defense came out with more intensity in the 2nd half. The Panthers decided not to go for it on 4th and 1 midfield on their first drive in the 3rd quarter. Honestly that probably was the right call they had the lead so there was no reason to risk going for it. In hindsight that probably made the Panthers a little complacent that they had this game won because the Panthers continue to get turnovers off of Siemian. He kind of struggled during the middle of the game and gave up another INT to Benwilkiere. Yet little did they know the Broncos defense was building momentum and Demarcus Ware's sack was the spark the defense needed. They knocked Cam around in the head. Unfortunately the Broncos got away with not getting called. I guess that's why they call it homefield advantage

This Broncos defense is still solid but I can tell already they will miss the interior prescence of Malik Jackson. I believe the rush defense will take a step back this year. Pass rush will still be fearsome but won't match 2015's numbers. The secondary will continue to be stellar but I can't help but think overall the defense's depth will take a hit season when injuries come into play. Last season they could sub guys out and keep players fresh. They'll have to rely more on their starters this year.
The Broncos offense weakness last year was QB and O-line. A change was probably necessary and wouldn't hurt to see how the changes would look. So far the O-line looks a little bit improved. The run game looked fantastic as a result of it. Still remains to be seen how Siemian will hold up in a full 16 game season. I think this offense will be better from a numbers standpoint, but those turnovers will come back to haunt them. I see Siemian as nothing more than a game manager but the real test will be the 2nd half schedule when the Broncos will be on the road alot. Those road games will be a big test for the Broncos and I think thats where they will struggle.
The Broncos will be competitively in the running for the AFC West but I do not see them exactly coming out on top due to a tough schedule. I see them finishing 7-9 at worst or 9-7 at best and maybe barely earning the Wildcard.
