Hello everyone, glad the nfl is back in business. I am really looking forward to the start of the season. I hope everybody has a successful season
Pittsburgh at Baltimore- There has been some words being spoken between these teams (as usual) but safety Clark for the Steelers is not calling the Ravens rivals because he says to be a rival you actuall have to win some games versus the other team. Well thats just a low blow to the Ravens. You never want to give Ray Lewis extra incentive to rip your head off. I think the Ravens also have a bad taste in their mouth from their 2nd half meltdown in the playoffs last year to the Steelers.
Here is all you need to know: Superbowl loser in the next season of week 1 0-10 ATS last 10 years Take Baltimore folks!
Ravens -2.5 3 units 23-14
Tennessee at Jacksonville- Last season for the Titans was a bad season causing Jeff Fisher to lose his job and Vince Young to be cut and also Kerry Collins retired. Chris Johnson had a down year from his 2000 yard season but he still got 1300+ yards. Matt Hassleback does have injury problems in his career but in week 1 he should be fresh. I think he will be able to keep opposing defenses honest and not stack the box against CJ all the time. On the Jags side MJD has alot of carries under his belt and I believe he is on his way down for his great career. David Garrad's days as the starter could be over this season if it turns into a disaster as they have Gabbert for their future qb. I just believe the Titans are the better team here.

Cancel Tennessee +3 Dont want to bet just on a feeling.
Seattle At San Fran- The battle for the NFC west begins with this barn burner of game. The Jim Harbaugh reign begins with a team that has underachieved the last 3 years. How are the 49ers going to be better this season? Is Braylon Edwards going to make a difference in the win column? Will Crabtree produce like a top ten 1st round pick? Will Gore be healthy this season? The big question is how will Alex Smith turn his career around? I'm not counting on him to revive his career because of the new head coach. Seattle does have qb questions but they do have Lynch at rb. Look for this game to be close and to expect a comfortable win if you wager on this one. A key trend here- The team that plays the SB loser in week 2 of the season is 7-2 ATS in week 1.
Seattle +5.5 1.5 units 17-20
plays so far Baltimore 3 units Seattle 1.5 units

I think motivation will play a key part in a Ravens win along with a SB loss hangover for the Steelers.

Ben Roethlisberger is nearly as good (14-7 ATS) as Peyton Manning as an underdog. Bad thing is Super Bowl losers have a horrible record in the following season opener.
Super Bowl losers are 3-14 ATS in their first game the following season.
Home Team has won 15 of the last 19 meetings (Flacco 0-6 vs. Roethlisberger).
Divisional favorites of 1-3 points are 15-5 ATS on kickoff weekend since 2000. ???
Divisional underdogs of 3.5 points or more are 20-9 ATS on kickoff weekend since 2000. ???
Ben Roethlisberger is 11-5 ATS as a road dog.
Ben Roethlisberger is 14-7 ATS as an underdog.
I think I will stay away unless something insane happens.

i couldnt agree more with the ravens as the play here. the addition of lee evans brings the legitimate vertical threat into play. rookie torry smith was supposed to play this role, but he is unproven. the kid is still fast as hell and will run downfield to keep the pitt secondary guessing. troy is not 100%, harrison isnt either, and now ike taylor will be a ?
ricky williams is an upgrade over mcgahee, and dont forget about the 2nd round draft picks last year of nose tackle cody and outside linebacker sergio kindle. the loss of todd heap was big, but he has had a lot of injuries in the last few seasons and the ravens played strong without him. besides, did you see the flacco connections already in the preseason opener with dennis pita? i cant wait until dickhead steelwill chimes in here and cries that im on the ravens again.

like your card except for the Philly play, that STL teams plays well at home and I know you cant read to hard into the preseason but they did look awfully good. Not sure just a feeling this is a no bet game for me.

Steelers are always beating the ravens ! but there too many factors out there to be countin out baltimore just yet. Id take the ravens because of home field and the drive to beat a rival .

Revenge will play a big part in the Ravens victory on sunday. I know the Ravens have been looking forward to beating their rival since the 2nd half meltdown in the playoffs to them.

having james harrison far from 100% healthy really favors ravens here along with michael oher moving over to his comfortable spot at right tackle to battle with woodley. the steelers have not gotten any pressure on flacco up the middle on the interior raven O line in the last 2 years when it comes to sacks, hits, and pressures. matt birk has been practicing and will be ready and bryant mckinnie has been losing weight since joining this team and will be ready to hold off an out of shape, hurt harrison. ravens now have the vertical receivers to expose the weak pitt corners, who are banged up as well.
the ravens new D coordinator pagano will be blitzing a lot more than the former D coordinator mattison and he will look to exploit the VERY weak pass protection of the steeler o line. shall i mention how good the ravens special teams are? i still cant believe people are betting steelers in this game.

Get$$ - I think the seahawks are getting ridiculous value. Gore had only 38 yards last year against them on 18 carries. More of the same will force Alex Smith (haha) to throw constantly on third down.
Pete Carroll and Seachickens in revenge spot here, too, after getting beat by 49ers 40-21 last year. Bizarre game, seahawks had 20 first downs (to 49ers 10!) They also finished with 30 more yards of total offense. 5 TOs plagued them in this one even though they outplayed the 49ers.
