Last season, when the Eagles were 10-1, I said they looked more like a 6-5 team, and they lost 6 of their last 7 games. This season, I said 2 weeks ago that the Eagles are the best team in the NFL. I still believe that they are. My ratings have them about 2 points better than the 2nd best team, the Lions. Here are some reasons why.
One of the strongest indicators of the strength of a team can be seen in their Net Yards per Play, or Yards per Play differential. This is the team's DEF YPP subtracted from their OFF YPP. Here is a look at the Eagles Yards per Play results for recent games.
Yards per Play OPP OFF DEF 10/13 CLE 6.0 / 4.6 10/20 NYG 5.2 / 2.2 10/27 CIN 6.7 / 4.8 11/03 JAC 6.1 / 4.2 11/10 DAL 5.4 / 2.6 11/14 WAS 6.2 / 4.2
The 1st game listed is their 10/13 game at CLE. The Eagles held a Net YPP advantage of 1.4 in that game. That is very good. That or slightly lower is where the best teams in the NFL usually are at the end of the season. Often times, no team will even get this high. The Eagles have exceeded the 1.4 YPP in all 5 games they've played since the CLE game of 10/13. These stats are ridiculous! They look like a college mismatch, Ohio State vs Akron. It's also noteworthy that their two highest Off YPP was vs argueably their strongest two opponents. (CIN and WAS) Now admittedly, their schedule wasn't too tough over that stretch, but to outperform so consistently, and being so much ahead of their opponents is rare in the NFL. I've got a feeling that weak schedule or not, any team that plays the Eagles right now is in big trouble.
Good Luck!

Eagles will never be the best team in the league with that qb their D is ASS Just because they FINALY have a good running back don’t mean they are #1 Mr number man
Their D is ASS? Have you followed football at all this season? The Eagles have the #1 ranked defense in the NFL, yielding only 273 yards per game. They are #1 in opponents YPPA, 8th in opponents YPR.
The Eagles are #1 in Rushing Yards per game, at 181 yards, higher than Baltimore and Detroit. While Jalen Hurts is 16th Passing Yards, he is 7th in Passer Rating with a 101.8 rating.
In short, the Eagles are 5th in Total Offense, and 1st in Total Defense. They are on a 6 game winning streak, with an 8-2 record. They have a lot more going for them than "a good running back."
