Read this article and answer how will Carolina game plan against Denver defense. I'm not talking about what Carolina can do to Denver offensive line cause that's all people want to talk about. Explain this one to me boys and girls. Not as easy as people think.

What the Broncos d was line up on the outsides of the Pats offensive line. They didn't care about the run. Brady couldn't scramble. Not sure what Wade Phillips has planned this time, but it might be similar, with as the article says a linebacker blitzing/shadowing Newton.

Fantastic article, thanks.

Yeah man. Been on this site forever and seen good analysis and unfortunately many idiots. Don't rarely post because of fools. Figured I would share. Denver will have problems with Carolina defense as well but just like New England game you never know. Good luck whatever side you take.

Look at the picture in the article. You see the Cardinals d line was evenly balanced. It never worked. It was set up for an o-line like Carolina's. Maybe it was their cleats too. Field is notoriously bad in Carolina. Field in San Fran is notoriously slow, which helps Manning who can't run.
Look at Denver's D on the failed 2-pointer. Look at how far off the line Ware is. it's an unbalanced formation. They were coming at extreme angles off the edge all game. https://www.sportsonearth.com/assets/images/2/1/4/162743214/cuts/Fahey2_enf81v96_l4rmnw9e.jpg

Understood. I'm on Denver but could change.
The article is just fabulous. Thanks much for it.

OP, excellent find. I said something to this affect just yesterday in another post. This Denver defense will be the most complete defense Carolina has seen all year. They have talent at all three levels and will not have to sell out either way to stop the run or pass. They can play man up against both which alleviates stress on the other units. I also quoted that "everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face". What will Cam do when what typically came so easy this year (offense and points) isn't so readily available for the taking? Press maybe? Force the issue which may lead to mistakes in his very first spot in the big game?
On the flip side, sure Panthers defense will cause all types of problems which will make it extremely tough for the Broncs to put points on the board...but that's par for the course for this years broncos. It isn't like they were the greatest show on turf this year, not in the slightest. Denver has been piling up wins all year in spite of their anemic offense. As long as Manning continues to manage the game and play mistake free, they have a huge chance. I'd absolutely prefer manning to "miss" those wide open receivers than to throw a wobbly lame duck chuck that gets picked leading to momentum and Panther points.

Naesiy, that's exactly what my bro was asking me tonight. What will Cam do when they get punched in the mouth? I'm interested to see his leadership in a tough game when things aren't going the best. It hasn't really happened al that much but there were average games by him in weeks 6-10 and of course the Atlanta game they lost. Everyone has their holes and no one is unstoppable. Yes, Cam Newton is a monster and will be the MVP but these are the things I'm interested to see how they play out.

From what I've seen out of him from his Auburn days until now, Cam is his best when the game is on the line. Maybe it happens in the SB, but I've never seen a moment too big for him yet. Just the opposite in fact-the bigger the moment the more he raises his game. The 2nd half comeback in the 2010 iron bowl was unreal. Down 24-0 at half on road @ bama. Not sure how much more pressure one could find in a game.

Good article thanks for posting it. Only thing I can fault it for is the assumption by the writer about Carolina's running game.
It seems he has already decided Denver will shut down the panthers on the ground game.
What happens if Carolina has success running the ball? What if Shula decides to roll with a heavy dose of read option with Cam toting the rock? There's no reason to 'protect' him from hits or running the ball as there are no more games left to play. Winner take all season at this point.

One excerpt that struck me as odd while reading this:
(sportsbook director)
“I can’t see us getting much higher than -6, but we still have 10 more days before this game kicks so you never know,” admits Childs. “If there happens to be any kind of weather on Super Bowl Sunday, this thing could get to -7 because Manning can’t throw the ball if there’s any kind of wind or a heavy rain. So we’re definitely keep our eyes on the 10-day forecast.”
The entire article is about the massive steam on Carolina and how the books may be extremely vulnerable for this game....Yet the book themselves throws out this tidbit? Makes no sense why they would mention something like this that adds validity to people who think Manning can't throw the rock and further expose themselves to even MORE liability come game time.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, could be. It just struck me as counter intuitive coming from a book.
