If it's so right to receive, why does every college team want to go on defense if they win the coin toss in overtime? You need to watch more football.

That and having the ball 2nd you know you have 4 downs.

You're crazy, a TD does not win on the first possession in college. The other team gets to match it. What the hell is going on in this forum, do people watch the games?

You would always want to choose to receive with the playoff OT rules. If you score and your opponent matches your score, then you get the ball back for a chance at a walk off win.

Berman is getting old and sounded drunk all night like Pat Sommerall. Both teams possess the ball now.

If that is the case, then you're right, but why would they give the receiving team twice to score and not the other team to match their second score. That seems odd.

You get two chances to stop them. It's fair and the best rule.

I didn't know that the Super Bowl OT rules were different. Even so, i don't have an issue with the decision to take the ball. Especially when you drive down to the 9. What bugged me was they attempted zero passes to the end zone.
But they lost the game with all the other mistakes.
The first drive fumble, the fumbled punt, the no points off the INT, and the missed PAT were the plays that lost them the game, not the OT decision to take the ball. They continually left the door open when they had chances to shut it.
Last year Chiefs were about to be down 2 scores, Hurts fumbles and it gets returned and suddenly game is tied. Last game Flowers is about to make it a 3 point game, fumbles at the goal line. They win without scoring a point in the 2nd half. Today they only scored one TD all game and it was off a turnover.
You simply cannot turn the ball over vs the Chiefs. You have to play mistake free. And when the Chiefs make a mistake you have to capitalize. Throwing a pick at the start of the 2nd half should have doomed the Chiefs, but the 9ers went 3 and out.

Mahomes had just driven them down to the doorstep at the end of regulation, it was their best drive all game, so I wouldn't be itching to give him the ball again right away when he's just found a bit of rhythm.
