He reminds me of Peter Parker. He's got a unique ability that no-other QB in the NFL has at the moment , discovers it puts it to good use which led to national headlines and a season MVP trophy. he feels good about himself then along came the Titans. broke his heart , like Mary Jane, and the Titans ruined his chance to play a Super Bowl in his hometown of Miami. Lamar was in a funk ever since, like Peter Parker losing his spider senses, all of a sudden cant shoot a web from his fingertips.. we just werent aware of it. he loses again to Kansas City and the once confident Jackson, now displays a defeatist attitude.. "Chiefs are our kryptonite" It rears its ugly head again in losses to Pitt and tennesee. "they wanted it more than us" "people want to see us fail" etc.. Lamar Jackson was in his sulking, teenage angst phase. Then Lamar caught COVID took time off. Maybe had time to reflect, comes back and shows some semblance of himself again vs the Cowboys but not quite back yet. Once he rediscovers himself and gets out of his teenage phase, Lamar Jackson may be as dangerous as any QB out there. Whether it starts now or next season, Lamar Jackson is the NFL's version of Spiderman and you dont underestimate a spider...

When I think of Lamar Jackson, I think of a wide receiver. He can’t read defenses...You can get away with that for a season until they have film and a book on you.

You are way too high on Lamar Jackson. The league learns quick how to get at QB's who are one dimensional. He had one good year. The league learned from it and now he can't do what he was able to in the past. He is by far an amazing athlete, can make people miss him effortlessly but as far as the IQ and throwing ability, avg at best. He will never be an elite QB. I can name off many before him that were similar but will never be known as one of the best of all time. You are drinking way too much kool aid as a fan sorry.

When I think of Lamar Jackson, I remember the guy I said fucking sucked when he came out of college. I thought he was a loser and couldn't throw a football. Well, that opinion would have been laughed at last year but here we've come full circle. He hasn't improved as a passer and while he's extremely athletic, that can only work so many times on option plays, along with the very real potential of taking a shot that gets him hurt. He's very gifted and quick as you've stated but so was Vick. I think Jackson is better at making his reads but he's still not a natural passer who puts good touch on his throws. Occasionally he throws a good pass and you start to think if he just did that more often, this guy would be an elite quarterback. There's still potential for him if the Ravens get better receivers. Even with that help, he's never going to be better than Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson and so on. He needs to work on his throwing motion and his footwork. Mr. Hoppy is always thinking about sprinting for a badass run instead of planting the right way and going into the proper throwing motion.

i like this response and agree
he still has work to do. maybe another fully proper offseason because this offseason has just been a bit messy preparation wise and more training from the quarterback's coach to improve on his accuracy and be at least somewhat on Josh Allen's level of throwing. not gonna lie but I've thought about how this Ravens team would look if they had Josh Allen as the QB..

@Digital- It's interesting you mentioned Allen because I just come to a snap conclusion when I see a guy play for a game. I instantly liked him and thought he had real potential but he had the same problem. He couldn't throw a football and only knew how to take off for a run. So I kind of gave up on the guy and thought I was so wrong about him. I have to figure they worked extensively on how to read through the progressions, when to step into a throw and when it's time to exit the pocket and sprint. You can see the hard work Allen has put in because he can throw on the run fairly smoothly now. He's not scared to sit in the pocket and let things develop and he has a better feel for pressure.

When I think of 'action Jackson', I think of a guy with 4 rockets up his butt in the regular season... in the postseason I view him as easily frustrated and a QB who cannot adjust to in game disappointment.
He folds like a cheap suitcase. He has two years of old tapes playing in his head now...can he overcome his postseason past? I have an opinion but it is not based in fact...so...will keep it to myself.

Next man up is Watson imo. This man can destroy you with whatever he’s given. It’s too bad the Texans aren’t who they were defensively and when in pass protection cause you always have a chance with Watson. Would be nice to see him play against Allen and the Bills. Unfortunately that won’t be happening. At least not this season.

Watching Lamar play was pretty awesome. He is by far the best athlete on the field, kind of like the fastest kid in the schoolyard. With that said, I still think he is a human highlight reel but never will be super bowl champion pedigree. Defenses will eventually figure you out. You can’t tell me the Dom Capers of the world won’t eventually scheme against you. Qb’s have to evolve their game, develop that pocket presence, become almost cerebral, good arm, read defense, the list goes on. The list always starts with Brady, Rogers, manning, brees, rothelisberger, Wilson. Never had you heard great qbs list start with Vick, Newton, Lamar, Murray.
don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to hate on anyone. I’m just calling it as I see it. He still looks lost out there even though he is the fastest kid on the playground.

If the Ravens somehow make it to or win the Super Bowl, management would have no choice. Teams win and lose big guys on what we always have been brainwashed to think it’s credit to the QB. I’m sorry but unless a defense can put up 2 tds a game, we will always praise offense as the biggest credit to winning even though truly it may very well be the defense or that kicker who saves the game or season. The Mark Rypien effect. Remember that guy??! After Washington won their super bowl, he held out and got paid even though that year the the defense was solid and they had a great ground game.

More like Joe Flacco...He is under contact for 2 more seasons, which is why the ravens made him a 1st round pick to get the extra year....No way would I extend him barring a SB victory....He is not built for long term success in the NFL.. The offense they run is not sustainable year in and year out..once they crap out in the playoff...questions will arise about him being a better passer..

Josh Allen wasn't much more accurate than Lamar coming out of college if we go by completion percentage but scouts were floored by his arm strength. I believe their passing yards are about nearly equal if we just compare their first two seasons in college. Man has Josh Allen's accuracy improved immensely this year just by whom they surrounded him with. guess Allen didn't have many reliable recievers to throw to at Wyoming lol. same could be said for Lamar last year, out of nowhere his accuracy got better. guess when you're hot you're hot.
i think the instant success Jackson had last year & hints of success the year before maybe spoiled him a bit and could possibly be a hindrance to his further development. maybe he got a little complacent in the offseason.. he worked on his mechanics last season and it was decent, but it looks like he has been getting a bit sloppy lately and it shows.
I think with Josh Allen he didn't have that success immediately and perhaps had to work harder to get to where he is at now. Also helps to have a coaching staff to know what his strengths are and surround him with the right weapons to maximize his talent. Josh Allen didn't look that good starting out with the Bills, relied on running more than passing until they gave him good recievers. It has gone to the next level with Diggs. nice job by the Bills coaching staff they groomed him the right way.
both QB's are talented but no question Josh Allen looks a little bit further in his development

@Digitalkarma Serious question, if you were the Ravens after this season, would you extend him and make him a top 3 paid QB in the range of Maholmes/Watson?
no i wouldnt until he wins a playoff game. Mahomes and Watson won a playoff game. they deserved the big contract extension. i,ll give Lamar 4 seasons to win a playoff game if not maybe time to move on and maybe forget about exercising 5th year option if he regresses even more.

just to clarify. if Lamar has a bounce back season and puts up good numbers in regular season and still loses a playoff game, maybe i'd let him play a 5th season to give him one final chance. but if he puts up lousy numbers and or fail to make the playoffs then maybe exercise the 5th year to trade him. hopefully doesnt have to come to that. i still think Lamar has a shot to be successful and be a life long raven as long as he can stay healthy
