Can't believe the government is going to get involved in Spygate! What a waste of time and money. I guess they don't have any more pressing issues to deal with. Our country is great, our leadership is a joke!

That's a very ignorant statement. Take 'Spygate' and the alleged mishandling of it by the commish's office, the banal practice of showing games on the NFL network, the dubious anti-doping policy of the NFL.. All of these are real issues for a league with an antitrust exemption.
There's billions on the line here. A government would be neglecting a mandate of its authority if it didn't take these issues seriously.
There are real questions that the NFL needs to answer.....and they're not gonna be doing it on their own.

sigh, this ignorant post pops up again. It is because of the Anti-Trust agreement that the NFL enjoys along with MLB. Google it, I am getting tired of educating ignorance.

I see what you guys are saying. What I am getting at is I don't think this falls under something our government is responsible for. I admit I'm not an expert on the Anti-Trust agreement ( yes, I do know what it is about) . My point is that I fail to see the relevance of this compared to other issues. I know the NFL is huge business, etc, etc. Just my opinion that it is a huge waste. As for being ignorant, I guess that a matter of opinion also. I actual am a very busy activist in a lot of political arenas. Anyways thanks for the free education from those who are much wiser than I am.

Let me rephrase my point. I concede the point that yes, if there is a Federal law and regulation in place, the government should enforce it. My point is I wonder if this sort of thing is something the government should have control over in the first place. Agree or disagree, that is what makes this a great country, we can have different opinions over what control our government should have.

Bling, I guess I am having a hard time expressing what I am trying to say on the subject. Thanks for contributing, and yes , I am a big fan of capitalism, and big business has it's place. I will further educate myself on the subject because no, I don't fully understand how or even if this should be a concern. I realize the major sports leagues are huge business and don't have direct competition. I guess my point was meant to be philosophical in nature. Have a good day.

I 100% agree with you, this is no different then them getting involved in baseball, Clemons/Bonds and steroids. Its all for show because if it actually had to do with drugs they'd be getting involved with Bodybuilding, wrestling and every strongman Competition. Our Government is turning into a big joke and think they know best for everyone. Just like when Hillary said "it takes a village" which actually meant it takes the Government to raise our children properly. 100% socialism is what they all believe and want to control everything.

another ignorant comment that thinks that all our government does is wrong, but yet has no clue how the government works at all.

exactly, the government allows NFL, MLB, and the other major sports to run as monopolies. That is why they need oversight and that is why they are not infallable to the law, such as drugs or cover-ups.

iraq-gate, plame-gate, torture-gate, halliburton-gate, 10 trillion dollar deficit-gate and katrina-gate should have priority over bellichick-gate.
See, you are just another example of the misperception most people have
on this issue.
The full Congress is not convening to grill Spygate. This is
simply one committee that is following up on NFL's investigation. Let's
not turn it into something it's not, here.
You have to understand, NFL enjoys anti-trust law exemptions that
almost no other corporation in the country does. For that reason alone
the oversight by congress is warranted.
The U.S. Congress doesn't just meet every morning at 9A.M. work on
the war, economy, taxes, etc. then go home at 3P.M. It's FAR more
complex than that and looks a THOUSANDS of different issues at the same
time. There are tons of committees studying all sorts of issues every
day Congress is in session. Let me tell ya, the MAJORITY of them are
less significant than this one.
This gets press because of the issue, while the vast majority are
only known by folks who watch CSPAN and read the minutes from
congressional hearings.
Trust me, the War isn't getting less attention in order to hold these hearings.

Your a true hoser for sure, and putting words in my mouth while your at it.
Honestly though, what business is it of theres if people are cheating in professional sports? ZERO!
The Govt. should not be in the role of legislating morality or ethics in professional sports.
A lot of
people in politics love to tell others what they can and can't do based
on what they perceive to be ethical/moral. There ego's are out of control thats why most are corrupt, to feed there ego's and control others.

rolemodel, go take a civics 101 class at your local community college then come back and try to argue some points instead of sounding like your typical ignorant non-voting American.
