There top 3 lines are as strong as any team in the league.
EHRHOFF - BIESKA
BALLARD - EDLER
HAMHUIS - SALO (who knows what will happen with him)
This defence core is stacked 1-6 and they even have decent depth #7-9 guys in Obrian, Alberts and Rome.
LUONGO
SCHNIEDER
Very solid 1-2 tandem. Schnieder is legit and should allow Luongo to rest a little more then in seaons before.
This team basically has no weak area. Strong in all 3 areas (forward, defence, goal). They have experiance in making it to the 2nd round the last two years and have the reigning Hart trophy winner. Get them at whatever odds you can right now because this team on paper is as good as any in the league.

They just signed Raffi Torres to a one year deal.
SEDIN - SEDIN - BURROWS
RAYMOND - KESLER - SAMUELSSON
TORRES - MALHOTRA - HODGSON (prolly someone else)

They do look pretty good on paper, but a lot of these guys had career years last year (Sedin, Sedin, Burrows, Kesler, Samuelsson). If they can replicate that *and* Luongo stays consistant, they should be the best team in the West.

Washington has a major question mark in goal and a suspect defensive unti.
Pitt is strong up front and solid in goal but that newly constructed blueline has questions to answer and they no longer have a legit #1 puckmover on the backend (sorry Paul Martin is solid but not that good).
Chicago will be strong but have lost basically all there good role players (Buff, Versteeg, Ladd, Eager, Sopel) and are bringing in a goalie coming off a horrible season.
Detroit could make a argument but I like Vancouvers depth up front more and give me Luongo over Howard.
SJ - There defence core all the sudden looks very underwhelming.
Philly - Mike Leighton, enough said
From top to bottom (first line to fourth, defence 1-6 and goalie) Vancouver looks like the most balanced and impressive lineup. If Luongo plays well next season they are going to win the west.

Just going by roster Id rather have the Caps, Pens, Sharks, That 2nd tier of teams you put out with Flyers,Hawks,Wings, Devils after they sign Ilya...thats the group Id put the Canucks in

Canucks have one of the deepest D-core in the league
Hamhuis-Ballard
Edler-Bieksa
Obrien-Rome
Alberts is the extra and Salo will be back by February,
Luongo is the goalie and the backup was the AHL goalie of the year 2 seasons ago.
Elite Prospect Hodgson is coming up and making the team, Torres has been signed ....
Henrik Sedin won the MVP award w. 112 pts without his twin brother for 6 weeks!
possible 30 goal scorers- D Sedin-H Sedin- Kesler-Raymond-Samuelsson- Burrows (depending on lenght of injury)
They also play in one of the weakest divisions in the league which will let them cruise through the reg. season while the Sharks play the Kings and Ducks and Coyotes every other night..
I think the west will come down to Van vs Det..

Do you people even watch hockey?
you're going to put the Sharks over the Canucks?
Sharks have Nittymaki and Greiss in net....
Sharks lost Rob Blake
Sharks lost Malhotra (to the Canucks)

If luongo can get into rythym early...like say before the dam 20 game mark they may have the NW by the end of DEC...but who the f knows with that team.
Stay safe and play smart

This defence is god awful. Throw in a rather underwhelming #1 tender and anyone that thinks this team is better on paper then the Nucks is out of there mind.

Sharks better team on paper? you must be joking.
Boyle Vlasic
Murray Huskins
Demers Wallin

I don't judge what's on paper, I go by what I think will happen on the ice. Oh and if the Sharks do seem to have a problem on the back end, you can be sure that they will take care of it by the trade deadline. I mean really.....on paper ?? If you go by that, then why even have the season. Just let the Pens, Caps and Hawks play a 3 team round robin for the cup if you just go by paper. GL on the season this year.

So basically your argument is that because the Canucks have choked in years past it will happen again?
Right now the Canucks have the better team. They were almost as good last season and they have made major addtions while the Sharks have lost 3 good players and really added no one of significance.

I guess we will just have to see. I say the Sharks and Wings will end up with more points than the Nucks this year, also the Nucks will not win the west. And I don't have an argument, just an opinion just as you do.
You have to sometimes go with your gut feeling and look past some stats you may see. And I gotta actually see the Nucks do something for sure.

Ahem.....or they may take care of it before the season even starts.

Nucks always look good on paper but when they get into the playoffs they never have the discipline to play their game.....this very well may be the yr they break thru though as west is wide open...same can be said for SJ....My Hawks lost a lotta guys and it 's hard to repeat in any sport regardless of who comes back and who leaves but their core is still intact and they will have to be dealt with..Detroit always right there also but watch out for LA as a sleeper..In the east Ill never be a believer in Wsh until they get those lunchpail gritty character guys who go into the corners and win battles..goaltending always an issue also..Philly caught lightning in a bottle...Crosby and Co will have a chip on their shoulders this year..they know what it takes and are the faves in my book....
