Down to 5 defensemen....
Doing this from memory but don't remember last year's team beating the best teams. Their game results matched the opponent whereas a a couple of years ago they were unpredictable
Demko was good late in the season last year

I don’t mean any offence by this as I know you were just relaying info, but as far back as I can remember almost every time I’ve heard the flu angle and people rush to bet against that team, the flu team wins. Just a thing.

I actually somewhat agree... At least on some analogous situations..
In the NBA, apparently you want to TAIL a team the first game or two without a star player.. And FADE the team first game or two back..
If you think about the Canucks sitation, if it's not star players with the flu, it might be better as the star players get way more minutes..obviously not sustainable.. But a few games at start of year could be no problem

@jimrockford22
The star thing works the exact same way in the NHL. Other players elevate their games for a sustainable time period and then conversely the letdown upon their return.

It's funny.. I always sensed that players/teams met the challenge the first couple of games without star and then someone explicitly mentioned.
If course the angle dies as those players hit some sort of psychological wall and opponents have been able to scout the teams play
