Hawks looked fatigued in OT, still Toews had a chance 2 on 1 and he hit the crossbar inside...unfortunate.

I always say if you had the underdog and it goes to OT you were on the right side even if it loses. Better luck on the OT coin flip next time

So if I'm tracking a system for NHL, would you guys consider that a win? The other day I had Vancouver as an underdog and they lost 3-4 in a shoot out. 

Do we chalk those up as victories/right side or take the results at face value? Trying to figure out how I move forward.

A win is a win a loss is a loss, if you want to eliminate OT then there are wagers that do that, if you don't select one of those types of wagers then it was a loss and it was the wrong side period, that's my view of it. You are free to bet a dog select half a puck if it goes to OT you already won. If you choose not to then you live or die with the overtime/shootout results, it's frustrating at times but there are choices so we can't really complain, not judging though as I have before too, we all have, but you can eliminate the OT session if you want.

Play your moneylines, you'll win some and lose some, with a big dog you can try the +0.5 I personally never do. You will win some ot games and lose some ot games. With that said when you go to OT and a shootout they are both more of a skills competition among each teams top players that is almost always going to favor the team that is favored to win because they are usually the more skilled team with the better netminder, which is why they are ahead in the standings and favored to win the game

I would just write OTW for OT win and OTL for OT loss next to the game if it goes to OT. Then keep track of the OT win/loss record for a more detailed account of how your system is doing. 

As for the +.5, another option is to make regulation bets (3-way) combined with betting the game to go to OT. 

For example, in the Leafs/Rangers game:

If your unit is 100 and you wanted to bet the Rangers, you can bet 78 to win 146.64 (+188) for them to win in regulation, then bet 22.28 to win 78 (+350) for the game to go to OT, then you have a push if it goes to OT. With these numbers (from 888sport), you'd get the Rangers at +124 which is better than the +120 offered on the ML, but they'd have to win in reg for you to cash. 

HOWEVER, 
If you wanted to bet the Leafs and did the same thing, you'd end up with a line of -161 instead of the -143 offered. Favorites don't get as much of a bump to win in regulation as underdogs do, which is why there's such a big difference.

You're probably better off just taking your chances as your wins and losses in OT should even out over a larger sample size. I was 12-25 in OT earlier this season and now it's at 32-33.

I'd need you to explain this to me in person or over the phone lol. Sorry I lost you at hello confused lol jk but thanks for the info. I like the OTW/OTL and I will just keep tracking. I mostly bet NHL "for fun" and do basketball more for...Well more fun lol. I'd like to think I'm a much better basketball capper bigsmile

TL,DR: Just accept the OT wins and losses and don't do anything differently.
