I know the NHL has the best refs of any sport in the world.
HOWEVER, this was a horrible horrible call. The cross check was legal, he lost his balance when he was bumped by another vegas player and fell on his sholder then he cut himself with HIS OWN VISOR.
The blame is on Pavelski for wearing a sharp edged visor (If you play hockey you know which visors I'm talking about) because they are light weight and not as bulky.
The cross check was not violent, he was PUSHED AWAY from the face-off cirlce LEGALLY and lost his balanace.
It's an injustice to Vegas by not adavancing. They were free and clear with a 3-0 lead and the refs never thought they would pocket 4 goals.
The refs made the wrong call PERIOD.
GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about that check, the guys on NBCSN said it wasn't legal...what was he to gain by doing it? You can't take chances on the road with 10 minutes to go

If NBCSN is your choice of network look at the replay on line. Neither ref raises his are to call a penalty.
They blow the whistle well after he fell and had their meeting to make a penalty call that neither of them saw as a penalty when it happened.
They know they screwed up, we know they screwed up, etc.
These are things we can't control (poor judgement calls) but the NHL needs to have these instances reviewed because they are game changers. What I'm getting at is that major penalty calls must be reviewed before they are made official on the ice.
You'll see this change next year.

It's your job to be mature and kill off the game, even after a bad call.
You look at the game, clearly the Knights were the better team. The only way the Sharks had a chance was they had 4 power plays and a gift 5-minute major. That's well over 20% of the entire game they had a man advantage. That's ridiculous.
Clearly the better team lacked the maturity to handle it and finish the game off.
And to me the killer was giving up a goal immediately afterwards, within seconds. It seems the team was reacting to the blood on the ice and losing their competitive edge. You know San Jose will come out angry, you have to expect thast.
Another killer was the coach didn't call a timeout when it was obvious to everyone on the planet that they needed a break from the momentum. that's something the coach can control that isn't ref-related.
It's a choke job and there will be less interest in the Knights next year. Has to be. how can you love a team that chokes away games and shows a lack of character and resolve.

Vegas player Marchessault just cursed out the referees. yes, he used curse words to describe the call.
He kept using the word embarrassment, which is what I thought of the team's performance-an embarrassment. The refs too.
It's why it's hard to follow hockey, to be honest. In the playoffs when nothing else is on, sure (NBA playoffs we already know the Warriors and Bucks won the series before it began, for example). The result is just embarrassing, undeserved, and it's clear to me the better team lost.
Looking forward to football season.

Refs reacted to the injury. Plain and simple. The rule simply states that if a penalty infraction causes an injury it's a 5 min major and a 10 min misconduct. In this case there was no penalty because he was checked legally in the circle after a face off.
Just read Rule 609. If a player gets injured as a result of a cross-check, it's 5 minutes and 10 misconduct, as you said. The guy was spilling blood and twisted like a pretzel, certainly that was a major injury.
So you can debate it all night, but it looks like a defendable call, as clearly it was a cross-check and clearly he got injured.
There's no denying they gave up 4 goals in 4 minutes. I can't remember any other time I've seen such a thing.

Bear in mind, this was a 3 goal game when the call was made. the Knights have no excuses, none. Also noteworthy, is that Vegas' second goal in this game was a total gift. where's the outrage over that bad call???
Eakin blatantly cross checks Pavelski, that's a penalty right there. zero debate. The cross check results in Pavelski landing on his head in a way that would have probably KILLED him, if he wasn't wearing a helmet. Blood all over the ice and the guy is barely conscious. That's a major penalty, no room for whining.
So, at this point, the Knights just need to kill the penalty and stop San Jose from scoring 4 goals. That's completely doable. what happens though? The Sharks OWN them, and crack Fleury open like a vault full of gold coins and diamond rings. who's fault is it? The Knights.
They choked out there.

Pretty much on agreement with that.
They just flat out CHOKED. No excuses.

Yes, Vegas choked. That's obvious. But it's also obvious how bad of a call that was. Refs do not have to give a major penalty for cross checking, and they were wrong about what happened on the ice. Look at this quote.. they think he was cross checked in the face. You're both defending a call for a 5 minute major and game misconduct for a stick shove to the midsection but the refs thought it was to the face. If these things routinely get called, the NHL playoffs are going to turn into soccer with everyone faking injuries because they get 5 minute majors instead of nothing at all. The quote...
"They said he cross-checked him across the face, and as we all saw, that didn't happen," Gallant said. "There was no high-stick that hit him in the face. When Stastny came out, he fell and banged his head on the ice. That's the unfortunate part of it. It was an awful call.

It doesnt matter right call bad call. The fact is Vegas had a 3 to 1 lead in the Series they had a game 6 at home to knock the Sharks out. They couldn't get the job done. They went to a game 7. They had a call made that was a 5 min major. They let on 4 goals in the 5 mins. That's very rare 4 goals in 5 mins. The hockey gods made it up it was 4 all going to OT. San Jose won and they can say it was the 5 min major that cost them the series but they had the Sharks down 3 games to 1. Sorry Vegas u should not lose game 6 at home to close a series out. So it's not just the refs fault in the series being lost. Next time close the Sharks out do not go to a game 7 on the road.

You absolute freaking idiot, did you watch game 6? They out shot, out hit, out played SJ so badly, they couldn't do anything else..and got beat by a short handed goal that their HOF goalie just made a very rare mistake on...then you do get a call that wasn't made on the hit but on the result...
