Dog Days. I listen to NHL radio with Stellick, Kouleas, and Laughlin all say, there is no such things as Dog Days in the NHL. I say bullshiit. I see it every year around this time. Big favs are either satisfied in their position in the standings, tired and ready for a break or key injuries and they DO take nights off. Blue Jackets play the Oil 10 games, Edmonton wins 8-9 of them regularly. Same with Avs and Ducks or Flames and Hawks. These are the Dog Days in my mind until trade deadline. But usually, you can find a bright side. After an embarrassing loss, most of those teams will be ready to play the next game (problem is the odds like the Oil tonight)
So, it appears that Forsberg will be getting b2b starts maybe. He hasn't done that this year but the Habs are a freaking MASH unit. Sharks on b2b in Pittsburgh and Pens can't afford to be losing. Do you really think the B's are losing b2b games? I mean, they can afford to in the standings but I think this team is on a mission to set a new NHL record for points in a season. I will say, they struggled against the Habs and lost to the Bolts. Keep an eye out on who starts in net for the Cats, Goalie Post is saying Guzda is possible. In the AHL, he has been solid at 10-4-2, 2.55 GA and .911%, but this is the Bruins.
So I guess the odds makers and thinking the Swords are fatigued from the road. Maybe as this will be their 4 game in 6 days and all with travel. Someone with more insight than I explain that Vegas/Isles line. The Isles win one game and all of a sudden they are back? Don't believe it. They still can't score and are like 3 for 75 in the PP since December. PLUS Varley should be in net. Festering Flies seems to be in every game lately and might be a good dog. Sea Monsters took one on the chin at home last night and get the BJ's tonight on b2b. I hate regulation plays but BJ's have gone from Calgary, to Edmonton, to Vancouver and now Seattle in the last 6 days.
No stats today, just discussion and thoughts so fill in the blanks.
What do you want to talk about?
Oh, I am taking the Pens tt and Sea Monsters in regulation. In the jr. league, Belleville has some major goalie issues, so I will play the Thunderbirds and in the late game, I am fading the Gulls once again.

Sid still OWNS the Capitals and Ovi. He loves to get in their heads.
I am tempted to take Amerks (Rochester) today. Old man Berube, is all the Checkers have in net right now and he would have to go b2b, but the Amerks are not exactly in good form at 3-6-1 last 10. hmmmmmm

Curious about this Avs/Blues game, do they come out and score 7 goals or is it gonna be an early morning snooze fest. Will see! Can you really trust either of them? I guess you gotta go with the Avs but this line kinda stinks.
