Is McDavid A Possible Conn Smythe Candidate

If Florida wins the Stanley Cup tonight, is Connor McDavid a possible Conn Smythe trophy winner at +600? He currently leads the 2024 playoffs in scoring with 38 points, eight more than his teammate Draisaitl, who sits in second place. More importantly, McDavid surpassed Wayne Gretzky's record for most assists in a postseason with 32, which will likely draw some votes. 

My opinion... not if Oil go down 4 games to 1. If they were to lose 4-3, then yes but not only winning 1 game.

Now that Bob has allowed five goals against last game, do you think Barkov will edge him out of the voting? Bob is still the favorite at -115 (dropping from -550 before game 4) while Barkov is +135. Also, I'm wondering if there has there ever been two co-winners for the trophy?

Upon checking, there have not been co-winners of the Conn Smythe trophy since it was first awarded in 1965 to the Canadiens captain Jean Beliveau. 

I think if Edmonton wins game 5 and he gets more points he could get it. Just took a look at draftkings odds. Bob and Barkov both at +105. The odds on the conn have been moving around a lot in the last 72 hours.

Only way McDavid gets it is if Oilers make history in the finals winning the cup

Bob is the first choice to me. Now saying that McDavid has an outside chance he just broke the greatest players assist record in the playoffs. He has 38 points and plus 9. Barkov is not winning the Conn Smythe over McDavid he has 21 points and plus 2. So to me it’s all Bobs and no one else now. When the game is over tonight I think Bob wins it and he should he was stellar all playoffs except maybe last game. Good luck to whoever you bet thou.

As the current favorite at -160, Connor McDavid is very much a Conn Smythe candidate. However I believe he'll have to win it as a member of the losing team because I strongly think Florida ends this in Edmonton on Friday night. 

I think after last night it’s all McDavid even if they lose the cup. He is 5 points from breaking Gretzky and the over all points in a playoff of 47 points. If it goes 7 he can break that record. He deserves the Conn Smythe breaking the greatest players records of assists and points. 

Gretzky did it in 18 games is the difference (although that was also a higher scoring era)

This is true. Wayne Gretzky was unbelievable still during that era. The Oilers use to take penalties to play 4 on 4. Just to get more open ice for there stars lol. That’s why the rule changed to stay 5 on 5. You can thank the Oilers for that.
