Definitely bet on USA. The entire thing is set up bettman to glorify USA hockey, the same way he operates the NHL. Add to this, many Canadian players are rumoured to not give two shits about this tournament which is why Pietrangelo has declined the offer to play. Others aren’t declining simply because there would be blowback. Russian players not being allowed to play because of money laundering politicians that they have nothing to do with is an absolute disgrace. What an incredible team they would have, but again it’s designed to further crown USA Hockey so them not being present just aids that. So yes go ahead and unload on team USA who will be playing their hearts out while I don’t feel the Canadians will give a shit. And they left the best Canadian goalie sitting at home lmfao. The entire thing is a clown show.   

I do hope you guys enjoy the tournament. Ignore the ranting of an old fella. I’m mostly disappointed more nations aren’t represented, I feel bad for those kids. No country for old men.

I will be there in Montreal for the games between Sweden & Finland,  & USA & Canada. Don't be in a hurry to put money on USA. What Canada doesn't have in net, they have plenty of up front power. By the way, Canadian players do give a shit about this series and it is being played in Canada, in crazy fans Montreal. May be a different story when the teams play in Boston.

 Interesting take. However, how can you be sure that the intentions of “US hockey” from an NHL standpoint is going to rub off on the U.S. players themselves?  The players may not give two shits either ??  I don’t know, just asking.   Do US players have an incentive to be more motivated than the other nations ?  After all, each individual player is in it ultimately for the money and future contracts.  

Curious to know what you paid for your ticket(s) to the US-Canada game? 

From what I see or saw, ticket prices are through the roof?

As a Canadian, you can be sure that the Canadian players will take this short tournament seriously.

Canada will for sure be taking this seriously, especially with what has been going on down south.  The Canada/USA game on Saturday is going to be epic

Binnington usually steps up in big games, but I don’t know. I’m not sold on Canada. McDavid and MacKinnon will be fighting to see who carries the puck into the offensive zone. 

There won't be an issue with Canada or the likes of McDavid and MacKinnon. For starters, they're not on the same line. 

I'm not sold on the US. The Tkachuk's march to the penalty box will hinder the team and Canada will eat them alive on the powerplay. 

I wouldn't waste my money on this tournament, how hard will the players go, will it be like the Allstars game probably not but I doubt it's gonna be like the old Canada cup as that was played before the season, not like this tournament where it's too close to playoff time, nobody gonna want to get injured before the playoffs and it ain't no olympics. Imo it's gonna be close to the Allstars game like a shinny hockey. I can't wait for the real best on best when the olympics come. But if the players do go full out I can't see Canada losing a game as they have the best top 6 and best bottom 6 and best defense and even there forwards are the best 2 way, u.s has the best goaltending but there defense as a team isn't that good, they have alot of one dimensional players imo.

covers nhl fam… are we gonna bang the OVERS in this tournament? tons of offensive fire power but not enough time to have any real defensive systems in place?? good goalies yes, but will players be laying down to block shots while their nhl teammates are chillen on the beach?

Agree with the Stoic - my initial Lean is to hit the Overs in RR play, as these guys don't want to get injured during a meaningless 3-4 games, so expect a wide open/stick time type of environment.  Not much physical contact, not a lot of dump and chase to avoid having to fight along the boards, so lots of transition opportunities for odd-man rushes and goals when guys get poke-checked trying to carry it in all the time.  I think its gonna more like a bunch of mini ASG's than a real fight tooth and nail tournament.  

No one will ever remember who won the 4 Nations Cup blah-blah, but everyone will remember who got their name on Lord Stanley in 2025...  Just sayin...

Well said leafs1789. However it definitely won't resemble an all-star game in any way.

These players are representing their country and once they put on that jersey, I think it will be full out.

 And you could be right, I hope you are, I just don't see the guys on contending teams going all out and risking an injury before the playoffs. They should have done this tournament in August or early September and should have had Russia and Czech Republic in this if it's best on best.
