YTD: 24-14 (+$7,175) Big Plays: 11-1 (5* or Higher)
I'm back from Germany and tonight will be my biggest play of the season. Win or lose this is the only time I will have a play over 10 units this year with a majority of my plays still being between 2-5 units. Based on my handicapping style there won't be a play that sets up much better for me all year and I'm hot and up money so why not let it fly a little bit, right?
Tonight I go for my 12th straight big play winner. Obviously I couldn't do it again if I lived to be 100 and winning 11 in a row takes a lot of luck. Who can forget the night Buffalo scored with 2 seconds left against Montreal to send the game to OT before getting the win or the Devils falling down 3-1 to Philly before storming back? I would like to take all the credit but luck has truly been on my side for some of those wins, that's for sure. I don't know if I have another winner left in me. I'm hoping I do. Read below and decide for yourself.
New York Rangers -125 (15*)
I've been waiting for a perfect spot to bet against the depleted Senators and for the right team to do it with and I think we have both tonight. It hasn't been easy because I have a lot of respect for this Senators team. They play with a lot of heart and grit. However, playing their third game in four night against a physical Rangers squad coming off a loss is the perfect time to strike in my opinion. I'm 5-0 in Rangers games this year, so I have a good feel for this team. One thing they can do is drain you. When they are on their game they do a lot of pinning teams up against the boards and force them to use energy. I think this is going to cause Ottawa a lot of problems tonight and really wear them down, considering they are missing so many key players. Even going back to the Toronto game on the 16th, Ottawa has played three really tough games in a row. I think as the game goes on tonight the Rangers are simply going to be too much for a spunky Senators squad even with Rick Nash out. This will likely be tough, probably something like a 3-1 game but I believe the Rangers come out on top. I think if NY can get 2 goals on the board tonight (no lock) they take it. So here is what I have going tonight on my side:
--I'm 11-1 on big plays this year.
--I've won 11 straight big plays since losing my first one of the season.
--I'm 5-0 in Rangers games this year.
So basically I have a 16-0 trend going for me tonight. What does it all mean? Well, for a guy who likes to play the odds, the odds are against me tonight. Still, I have to keep playing the games how I see them and I see this being a great spot for the Rangers. We'll see how it goes. My cousin is a Rangers fan so if it loses I can always take it out on him.
Good luck with your plays everyone.
