P.K. Subban to the Preds for Weber (WTF)

What a stupid move by the Habs, they straight up trade players.  Is Marc Bergevin sabotaging the Habs from the inside ?

Well that's one of the bigger things, they lost 4 years on the trade.  PK is in his prime right now.  But you have to look past the numbers of just pure points. 

definitely THE biggest trade of the summer so far. BOTH players the "face of their team" with Shea Weber the captain in Nashville while Subban was one of four "alternate captains" in Michel Therrien's "NO Captain" system.

I honestly do NOT know WHICH team gets the better of the deal. BOTH are STARS as offensive defensemen BUT P K tends to be a "penalty magnet"

P.K is reckless....high risk, high reward. It cost the Habs a few games....he just needed to make the 'simple' play...he didn't, and it cost them some games....

I think Weber's leadership will be great for the habs, something that PK expressed in a certain way that wasn't appreciated by all. I would be more concerned about the Taylor Hall trade, that seems like such an uneven swap in my book.

since bergevin and therrien came to the habs they have had one goal..make pk the boring white dude that every old school hockey guy loves...therrien hated him before he got hired so his feelings are not a secret

they insulted him multiple times whether it be a bridge contract, arbitration, calling him out for a mistake etc

fans did not turn on pk...anywhere you look its 80% of fans dislike the trade

advanced stats brought new way to analyze the game...one of the main players whose reputation took a hit was shea weber...simplest way to explain it was that whether he was on the ice or off the ice the preds performed virtually the same. this is not the case for elite dmen like pk, doughty etc. pk makes his team and the players on the ice better...weber...not much a difference

weber has also played the majority of his career with suter and roman josi. pk has had bouillon josh gorges and an older markov. when weber gets the puck he passes it to josi to get the puck out of the zone. pk carries the puck out himself. everyone likes to point to turnovers well you cant turn it over when you dont have the puck. the new nhl is all about transition and that is what makes pk better than weber. weber is obviously a much more sound defender because his position in the dzone is elite. pk is not.

regardless if you think weber or pk is the better dman the fact remains, in 3-4 years it wont be a debate who the better dman will be..one is in his prime and another is closer to his decline...pk's contract ends when he is 33...weber 41

therrien and beregevin accomplished their goal. they were never fans of pk. short term it might not be a big difference but there is one team that has no risk of looking bad and that is nashville

pk detractors are all the same. talk about leadership and he is bad defensively. many teams have won championships where teammates didnt like each other. we just saw one do it in the nba. it is always prevelant in the nhl. but that is probably one of the main reason he got traded. he was losing support because therrien and bergevin never backed him and traded his friends away.

one reason why david poille pulled the trigger? talked to good ol hal gill. a guy that many said hated pk when he played with the habs. he vouched for pk and while he may be a bigger personality that can get annoying at times...not a distraction in the way of winning.

chiarelli had traded seguin and hall for next to nothing...makes no sense

seguin, hall, pk all traded because of character issues yet the rapist in chicago was the mvp this year

I really think Hall was traded because he was only one with enough value.  Subban trade looks real bad today in 3 years yikes.

As a Habs fan, I'm ecstatic about this trade.

sorry for the confusion...pk is not french he is from ontario. what i meant is that how pk is as a person is different than the average hockey player. and obviously being black adds another cultural difference that is very different especially to old school hockey guys. therrien is an old school guy.

the first thing therrien said about pk subban when he was hired was that he wanted to  make him a better person. a better person? not a better player? what arrogance to say that about someone you dont know. what an insult to his parents especially his father who does such great work for his community. who the hell is michel therrien to make anyone a better person?


therrien worked for a hockey talk show in montreal before he was hired by the habs and always said he didnt like pk's style of play. you can see how the habs play...its incredibly boring, passive and void of any creativity...

you can think pk isnt a team guy but when he came into the league him and price almost single handedly took the eventual stanley cup champions boston bruins to game 7 with a roster that was complete garbage...year in and year out he is by far their best player in the playoffs..advanced stats show how he makes everyone he plays with better....but then again like i said this trade is a class of cultures...old school hockey guys who think habs won the trade or new wave advanced stats guy who think the preds robbed the habs

lots of perceptions about pk not being safe, too risky....mr turnover like the guy above said...yet only one of these players according to advanced stats actually makes his team significantly better when he is on the ice compared to when he is off the ice...and it isnt the guy that got picked to team canada..

the talk of turnovers is stupid because its like all the idiots who rave about hits...if you are hitting someone that means you don't have the puck...of course subban commits more turnovers...that because the puck is on his stick way more than shea weber. look at the other names that lead the league in turnovers...doughty and karlsson...why? because elite dmen take the puck and move the puck...its all about the transition game. that is one thing weber and the preds are poor in and thats why they got pk

subban played 10 fewer games last year than weber and still made 600 more plays with the puck than shea weber. 600! so it should be no surprise he commits more turnoverrs. its expected. pk either has the puck or is around the puck. shea weber is not.

i mean if weber is so great, team guy so amazing why did nashville trade him? we know why montreal traded him and it was all about ego's and personality clash.

 

wouldnt you have rather done hall for subban? i heard the rumor was subban for draisat, number 4 pick overall and something else....would you have done that as an oilers fan?

ya i mean regardless of who is the better dman weber or pk...long term this is just a terrible trade for montreal...no one can deny that...only way habs win is if they win the cup in like 2-3  years. they still have a strong core in montreal and with price anything is possible...but why would you willingly close the window on your own team...simply foolish...huge gamble and hopefully it pays off for the habs

Shea weber maybe has 2 or 3 good years left at best real risky trade in my books. Sharks where eating him alive in the playoffs.

No chance I would have done deal habs wanted, Leon, Number 4 pick, Nurse and Klefbom.  IMO that is worse deal then PK for Weber.

One thing PK will just love like most players in Carolina and Nashville, is they can walk down the street like anyone else and be noticed by very few people.

i dont know what more you want me to say. why would a man say he wants to make another person a better human being? having never even met that other person.

 that man donated 10 million to hospital. people think he did it for attention. cool. never heard that kind of criticism about other players donating money to hospital. i wonder whats different about pk?  the days he went to visit kids in the hospital with no media around greatly exceeds the number of times he went to visit with media around.

pk subban was becoming bigger than the montreal canadiens. that is not allowed. this isnt the nba. you cant brand yourself.

anyways we have gone on too long...we will see how the trade works out in the long run...

haha if the habs wanted that then bergein is on some good stuff.
